"Manfredia's Carpentry is a top notch contractor. I did a fireplace surround with stone and also added the stone on two columns off of the kitchen to match. The quality of their work is exceptional. They are very professional and always on time. They kept me informed every step of the way. They always kept the work site very clean. I couldn't be happier with the final outcome. We also stayed on budget. I would highly recommend Manfredia's Carpentry for any job. Well done. Thank you. Debbie"

"I hired Richard Noll to power wash and stain my deck. Before arriving Richard asked me about the HOA requirements for the stain. When he arrived, he verified with me the type of stain to use and purchased the stain at Home Depot. He also noticed and showed me that the lattice was pulling away from the deck and a few boards that needed to be nailed down. Richard fixed the deck and completed the deck. The deck looks great! I will hire Richard again. Richard also fixed a toilet for me."

"Tom was very professional. He was very patient and listened to the litany of projects and questions I had. No project was too small or too big. He arrived on time and I was very satisfied with his work. I would definitely recommend him for a small drywall repair to, building a sturdy 200 gallon aquarium stand, to tearing out entire walls. Hurry up and hire him before I find more projects!!"

"Frank and his team did a great job installing our new front door. The brick was disintegrated under the old frame so they rebuilt part of the wall, and they worked with me to save the old transom window by reframing it with another pane of glass to provide insulation. Our backyard looks amazing with the new fence they put in. I have recommended Frank to friends and would hire him again for any future work on my house."

"Joe, Jose, Arturo and Mauricio were all extremely professional, prompt and did an excellent job. Not only did they build an extension to our flagstone patio including a retaining wall, but they reset our existing patio as the previous contractor did not set it right. Would hire again."

"I chose G & V Construction for this job after being very pleased with work they did for me last year (new concrete patio in the back)    The concrete on my front porch had started to form cracks, which quickly became larger and threatened the supports for the canopy.  Also, some of the curbing in front on the street was broken and the drain pipe for runoff from my roof that is supposed to terminate in the street was not connected.
I called Brian to come out and provide an estimate for the job.  He reviewed the work and we discussed my concerns and expectations.  He then provided a detailed verbal scope of work, including his own recommendations based upon the inspection.  Within a few days, I had a detailed estimate for the job in writing.
Once scheduled, his team showed up as promised.  The workers were courteous and professional.  One even took the time to move some of the summer plants from around the existing concrete porch that would have otherwise been crushed in the work.  It was clear that they took pride in their workmanship, adding an extra design bead around the perimeter of the porch to dress up an otherwise plain concrete patio.  I also appreciated the swirl pattern on all surfaces to ensure proper traction in the winter.
The work was completed within the projected time frame and I was very pleased with the result.  I would use this contractor again without hesitation.

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

A cross brace for a fence gate should stretch from the top corner of the gate’s hinge side to the bottom corner of its latch side at a 45-degree angle to the bottom of the gate. This positioning distributes the bulk of the gate’s weight to the base of the post, taking pressure off the top hinge.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.
