The guys were really great craftsman. Where other contractors building a covered deck may use 4x4s for the posts, they used 6x6s. They made conscious design decisions, including when they covered the old roof line so that would flow well with the overall aesthetic of the deck. Door and window installed quickly to diminish time in which the elements would impact the comfort of the home. John and team were easy to work with and, when not frozen over from weather, were able to keep the job site tidy. They were able to work with the few changes/enhancements we added with ease.

I hired John Nelson and Sons a short time ago to remove a 40-year-old deck and replace it with an 18 by 22 foot composite deck. I had put off replacing the deck for several years for I had not found a builder I was comfortable working with. John was very straightforward and receptive to my plans for the deck from the beginning. I was pleased with the personal dealings I had with both John and his sons, and I was equally pleased with the quality of their workmanship. The deck turned out better than I ever hoped it would. The pricing was extremely fair considering the quality of workmanship. If I had another decking job to do, I would immediately hire them again.

This company did an amazing job for us. We wanted to extend our deck to and use trex vs wood. John met with me a few times and really helped me understand my options and made sure the deck met our families needs. His team, including his sons, were very skilled and you can tell they take pride in their work. They also saved us a lot of money, this deck could have been way more expensive. He made great recommendations and clearly explained everything they would be doing. His sonâ  s crew worked very hard and very efficiently like an experienced team. Nelson and sons were not the cheapest quote I got and they were not the highest either but they were by far the best value. Based on my experience with them, I highly recommend them.

The deck looks fantastic!!! We have a very large deck that was originally wood. Johnâ s sons and team worked hard to demolish the old deck and put the new one on, even through the tough heat. The deck looks incredible with the crew paying careful attention to detail and constantly looping us in to get our thoughts on how we wanted it to look. Throughout the process, we had different choices to make with lighting and lattice around the bottom which the crew were able to guide us through these decisions and tell us their recommendations. The crew was so nice and friendly while working. After they finished, they did a final look with us to make sure everything was how we liked. They even wiped down the vinyl railings and hosed any dirt off the deck. It was a great experience-highly recommend them if you are in need of a new deck! Thank you!!!

The level of skill of their crew and professionalism was beyond outstanding. This was a 2 week project in tremendous summer heat. They started at 9 am every day and worked until 4 P.M. they replaced our 30+ year old deck with a magnificent composite deck including demolition and repair of footings and braces as necessary. I have a flat roof with a deck above my family room. After 25+ years the roof began to leak. John explained the problem clearly. Roof repair would require removal of the existing deck and railing, then install of new roof material and sealant. Following the roof work, a new deck and railings would be installed . I had them replace a rotten, 12x12' deck. The job started within the timeframe that we discussed. The actual work from demolition to finished deck was only 2 days with a dumpster getting delivered the day before, and retrieved the day after. I couldn't be happier with the timing, or the quality of work. They even stayed to finish the railing when it started raining. The price was a bit steep, but not getting jerked-around is priceless.

John and his sons replaced our aged wood deck with a new composite deck, complete with vinyl railing and a lattice skirt. Additionally they replaced our aged side steps with composite ones.
