"I hired Colónc to repair some damaged drywall in my home, and they did an absolutely fantastic job! The quality of the workmanship is top notch, the patched area is perfectly smooth, and you honestly cannot tell where the original damage was. They matched the wall perfectly. They were highly skilled, professional, and very easy to work with. I am incredibly happy with the results and will definitely use them again for any future repairs. Highly recommend!"

"Mr. Marc was very professional and kind. We had 7 holes in our dry wall due to creating an electrical line in our living room. He explained in detail the process of dry wall repair. He cleaned as he went along. My family and I were amazed at the repair and we were pleased to see how even and smooth the repaired areas blended in with the natural wall. My family and I would recommended him."

"Genaro and son, of Gcolibri, did a great job on all the projects: drywall repair, moving a TV cable from one side of a wall to the other side, and removing and cleaning the face vents of all HVAC air ducts. Genaro is knowledgeable, reliable, friendly; and he made sure to clean up every day. I will hire him and his son again for projects large and small and intend to recommend them to my family and friends."

"He was pleasant and punctual. Explained what he had to do to fix the problems.. Did extra work and didn't increase the price. He painted the trim in my house in my kitchen and put in my door fixture. He told me everything he was going to do before he did the work. He used the materials we had and when the paint was low grade . He used his paint which was better. We will use him again. Highly recommend him."

"I had four roofing companies assess a roof leak problem and Fred with IPS was the only one that did not immediately recommend a roof replacement. Everyone else (Bachmans, Mitri, Home Genius) only recommended solution was to replace the entire roof. Fred found the problem was elsewhere on the property and as a result saved me thousands of dollars. I later used him for plumbing repairs and other issues on my rental properties as well and his work ethic and performance far exceeded my expectations. I will be using Fred with Integrated Property Solutions for everything going forward. I just wish I could get the last 10+ years back of wasting time and money with general handymen. It will cost more but it is so worth it to just work with a reputable company that has a public profile with tons of positive reviews. If you have rental properties your tenants will stay longer and therefore increase NOI over time."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Poured concrete is often the cheapest material for a retaining wall, costing around $6 to $8 per square foot. Other budget-friendly options include vinyl and landscaping timbers, which range from $10 to $15 per square foot; landscaping timbers are particularly well-suited for DIY projects. Untreated timber and railroad ties are a step up in price, starting at $15 to $25 per square foot. Natural stones can also be a cost-effective choice if you can source them from your own property, but they can be expensive to purchase. High-end materials like steel are typically the most expensive but offer superior durability and aesthetics.

Depending on who you hire to build a retaining wall, the average cost, including demolition and reconstruction, for a 50-foot wall that's 4 feet in height is between $7,000 and $24,000.

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.

Costs depend on material type, labor rates, and additional features like decorative finishes or reinforcement.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.
