"If we could give them MORE than 5 stars, we certainly would! We HIGHLY recommend CertaPro Painters of the GLV for interior painting. From start to finish, their entire Team was professional in how they approached the job. And, they provided high quality service at a reasonable and competitive cost. We were VERY impressed with how the owner of the company provided us with a complete overview and confirmation of what we could expect and then remained in touch as the job progressed. The primary painters, Jose and Luis, with additional help from Benjy, were simply THE BEST! They were quite skilled at and knowledgeable about painting - as well as cheerful and a general delight to have in our home for 3 days. They did a beautiful job and we (who co-owned one of the Lehigh Valley's largest home inspection business for nearly 2 decades) are beyond pleased! CertaPro of the GLV is a woman-owned business, and the attention to detail definitely shows! We will absolutely use CertaPro of the GLV again for any future painting jobs!"

"SHORT REVIEW: You couldn't ask for a better painter! 2nd job DS Painting did for us and we couldn't be more pleased! DETAILED REVIEW: Derek painted a room for us 8 years ago when we purchased an Angie's List deal for his company. We were so impressed with his work ethic, personality, and the quality of his work that we kept his name on file. We recently moved into an existing home that needed to be completely painted: ceilings, walls, and trim. We were out of Derek's normal service area but took a chance that he would accept the project since it was a whole house. He accepted...YAY! As expected, he and his coworker, Mike, were AMAZING. Every surface of our home was covered with a drop cloth or plastic (cabinets); every outlet cover and register removed; every doorknob, hinge, and light fixture taped or covered so paint would not get on them. We gave Derek a key to the house and stayed out of his way. We were so pleased with the progress. We found out that Derek does tile work, so we asked him to also add a tile backsplash in our kitchen. That turned out great as well. The only evidence that they were even there was the BEAUTIFUL paint and backsplash: They cleaned everything up and even vacuumed the floors before they left. I will be saving up and trying to get enough work together to convince Derek to come out to us one more time for bathroom tile and anything else that he does. Honestly the best contractor (painting or otherwise) that I have had the pleasure of working with. Thank you, Derek and Mike!"

"Chris from Eastwood Carpentry made our project effortless. We just purchased this home and it needed an overhaul: painting, flooring, trim and hanging light fixtures, but we live 50 minutes away. Chris and his team were honest, professional and neat. He moved his schedule so that the place would be ready to move in I HIGHLY RECOMMEND calling Eastwood Carpentry."

"Genaro did an excellent job ankering our gazebo. He was very pleasant and also provided me with shelving for our laundry room. He and his son are reliable and reasonably priced. I will hire them again and recommend them to my daughter."

"Our kitchen cabinet refinishing project was a combo of refacing existing as well as painting new cabinets. I purchased all new doors and drawer fronts and they came paint ready. Jason was a great creative adviser on the project and we enjoyed his artistic expertise in addition to his superior painting skills. His pricing was very fair and we had other quotes to do the same work that were much higher. The finished product far exceeded our expectations and my wife and I now look at our kitchen and marvel at how amazing it looks. For future refinishing projects I will not hesitate to hire Jason once again."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

If you recently splashed paint on the wrong area of a wooden object, remove it with a solvent or caustic paint stripper. Some paint that has yet to dry may be removable by hand with coarse sandpaper or a plastic scraper. Another trick for removing dried-on paint is rubbing a dab of nail polish remover on the paint to remove it, but avoid touching the bare wood surface.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

Linoleum adhesive is quite stubborn, so you may have to try several different methods for removal. You can start with a wallpaper steamer and steam it off or add laundry detergent to water and let it soak into the adhesive. You can try paint thinner directly on the adhesive for about 10 minutes and then wipe away.

You can sell a house with lead paint, but there are several requirements. If you are aware that lead paint exists anywhere in the home, you must disclose that to potential buyers. Required home inspections will often uncover lead paint, especially for older houses where lead paint may still be a problem. If you have taken steps to encapsulate lead, you should provide buyers with full documentation of the project so it won’t cause any problems later on.
