"SHORT REVIEW: You couldn't ask for a better painter! 2nd job DS Painting did for us and we couldn't be more pleased! DETAILED REVIEW: Derek painted a room for us 8 years ago when we purchased an Angie's List deal for his company. We were so impressed with his work ethic, personality, and the quality of his work that we kept his name on file. We recently moved into an existing home that needed to be completely painted: ceilings, walls, and trim. We were out of Derek's normal service area but took a chance that he would accept the project since it was a whole house. He accepted...YAY! As expected, he and his coworker, Mike, were AMAZING. Every surface of our home was covered with a drop cloth or plastic (cabinets); every outlet cover and register removed; every doorknob, hinge, and light fixture taped or covered so paint would not get on them. We gave Derek a key to the house and stayed out of his way. We were so pleased with the progress. We found out that Derek does tile work, so we asked him to also add a tile backsplash in our kitchen. That turned out great as well. The only evidence that they were even there was the BEAUTIFUL paint and backsplash: They cleaned everything up and even vacuumed the floors before they left. I will be saving up and trying to get enough work together to convince Derek to come out to us one more time for bathroom tile and anything else that he does. Honestly the best contractor (painting or otherwise) that I have had the pleasure of working with. Thank you, Derek and Mike!"

"If we could give them MORE than 5 stars, we certainly would! We HIGHLY recommend CertaPro Painters of the GLV for interior painting. From start to finish, their entire Team was professional in how they approached the job. And, they provided high quality service at a reasonable and competitive cost. We were VERY impressed with how the owner of the company provided us with a complete overview and confirmation of what we could expect and then remained in touch as the job progressed. The primary painters, Jose and Luis, with additional help from Benjy, were simply THE BEST! They were quite skilled at and knowledgeable about painting - as well as cheerful and a general delight to have in our home for 3 days. They did a beautiful job and we (who co-owned one of the Lehigh Valley's largest home inspection business for nearly 2 decades) are beyond pleased! CertaPro of the GLV is a woman-owned business, and the attention to detail definitely shows! We will absolutely use CertaPro of the GLV again for any future painting jobs!"

"Chris from Eastwood Carpentry made our project effortless. We just purchased this home and it needed an overhaul: painting, flooring, trim and hanging light fixtures, but we live 50 minutes away. Chris and his team were honest, professional and neat. He moved his schedule so that the place would be ready to move in I HIGHLY RECOMMEND calling Eastwood Carpentry."

"Needed general home renovation(no category for that on Home Advisor Website.)Recommended to me by a friend who is a real estate developer, Gino and Sebastian completed a substantial home renovation over a 4-month period. The work included?but wasn?t limited to?full interior painting, installation of new wood flooring, a complete kitchen renovation, full and partial bathroom remodels, new interior doors (installed and painted), fireplace repairs, deck repairs and repainting, installation of a wood fence with concrete footers, and an advanced epoxy coating applied to the garage floor. They also took on many smaller tasks at my request, all handled with care. Completely reliable. Gino and Sebastian were meticulous, customer-focused, and a pleasure to work with.I had dreaded the experience of working with contractors, but I couldn?t be happier with the outcome. The work was fairly priced and exceptionally well done. Highly recommended. Photos of work available through contractor. ?"

"Jason, of J. Poplar, did a great job painting and updating our cabinets in our 27 year old kitchen. The cabinets and layout were still to our liking, so we decided instead to have them painted a much lighter color, and changed all the hardware. Jason did the entire job in our home by himself, and had no other job during that time. His attention was totally on our kitchen. Jason is very conscientious, has creative ideas, and leaves the job with attention to cleanliness. Additionally, he is very customer focused to give the homeowner a result that is beyond expectations."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Think hard before deciding to German schmear your home’s exterior brickwork. If you do not like the look, you are pretty much stuck with it, as it is impossible to remove this finish the way you can remove paint. You risk damaging the underlying brick if you have to chisel and acid-wash it away. It will also take a very long time, and remnants of the mortar wash will always remain.

While the above methods will help you remove paint from tiles, you may need to take a different approach to get rid of grout haze. If you’ve recently applied the grout, you may be able to wipe it off with a wet cloth. Otherwise, you can try removing it with a rubber grout float, spraying it with a mixture of four parts water to one part vinegar, or using a store-bought grout haze remover.

If you recently splashed paint on the wrong area of a wooden object, remove it with a solvent or caustic paint stripper. Some paint that has yet to dry may be removable by hand with coarse sandpaper or a plastic scraper. Another trick for removing dried-on paint is rubbing a dab of nail polish remover on the paint to remove it, but avoid touching the bare wood surface.

Scrape softened caulk with a putty knife or slice hardened caulk with a utility knife. Hard-to-remove caulk generally requires more time exposed to a softening solution, like a commercial product or rubbing alcohol. A few hours to a day later, the softened caulk will come off with the help of common household tools. In many cases, you can grab needle-nosed pliers for caulk with multiple old layers and pull the material off its base.

Technically, mineral spirits are a type of paint thinner, so they can be used for the same purposes. In most cases, pure mineral spirits are preferable to other paint thinners. Still, if necessary, you can successfully use paint thinners for most of the same applications, such as thinning or cleaning oil paints.
