"Best price out there for my shower remodel. Awesome customer service: Joe got back to me very quickly with all questions and concerns. Shower itself came out awesome. Communicated with us throughout the whole process about problems that came up and what he was doing to solve them. "CalCo Design and Renovations is fantastic to work with! We engaged them for a bathroom remodel and window replacement. Their processes were smooth and structured from sales to installation. They provided frequent communication on the status of the project (Val) and provided a point of contact for any questions/issues. The installation team was phenomenal! Very skilled, professional and friendly. Drew, Wendell and Jared worked tirelessly and were very respectful of our home. We enjoyed working with them. The results are demonstrative of quality product and workmanship! We love our gorgeous new bathroom! For any future projects, CalCo will definitely be our first call!"

"Overall, a great job. Installers were professional, courteous and hard working. Cleaned up, vacuumed. Installed by Jake M., Kevin, Zach P, and Bill. There was a plumbing issue and the installers immediately had Bill, master plumber, come out to fix it. Took 2 days instead of one due to the plumbing issue. My only complaint is that my salesman, Drew W. did not call me back when I reached out to him with a concern. Very happy with the finished project. Kudos to Jake, Kevin, Bill and Zach on a job well done."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

The toilet should rest 10, 12, or 14 inches from the back wall. As for other clearances, 15 inches is the minimum distance from the flange to any side wall or nearby fixture, including the shower, tub, and sink. Modern codes also require at least 24 inches of clear space in front of the toilet.

Yes, hiring a drain cleaner is worth it, especially when compared to the cost of not being able to use a sink, shower, toilet, or bathtub and the potential damage that flooding can cause in your home. You might try a temporary drain cleaning liquid or snaking it yourself, but if the clog is out of reach or these methods do not work, then hiring a professional drain cleaner is the way to go.

Whether a DIY fix is safe depends on your knowledge and experience in plumbing and appliance repair. If you have the necessary skills, follow safety precautions, and consult the user manual, it can certainly be done safely. However, if you're unsure or lack experience, you should consult a professional plumber, appliance technician, or sewer repair company near you to avoid potential accidents, further damage, or plumbing issues.

While polybutylene pipes are usually light gray, if you see gray pipes in your home that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re polybutylene. PVC pipes can also come in gray. Check for a “PB2110” stamp, slight flexibility, or a ½-inch to 1-inch diameter, which are also signs of polybutylene.

In most cases, you can’t connect to an existing sewer line, but this is specific to new builds and additions. For example, if you add on to a home or build an ADU, you'll likely have to install an entirely new sewer line. In most places, connecting new lines to an existing line is not up to code. As such, most new home builds or additions will require proposals for an entirely new line from the construction site to the sewer.
