"Excellent workmanship and products I have had three installations with Power in the past two years. I first used them for a new roof and gutters. The workers were all knowledgeable in their area of work. Clean up was good although some nails kept showing up over time. Next I had the 2nd floor windows and some 1st floor windows replaced, 9 in total. Installation went well and they cleaned up beautifully afterwards. I love the windows! They are a beautiful and energy efficient product. Lastly, I recently had a bay window replaced in my kitchen with the same type window. The workers ere all friendly and explained what would be done. The area was draped with plastic to cut down on dust. Clean up was excellent inside and outside! The window is beautiful and the framing on the outside of the window matches the other windows and the small roof above the bay window was replaced with the same roofing as the rest of the house. I would choose them again for any future projects."

"Rob was excellent! Pricing was fair and competitive, communication was excellent, and was a very professional, nice guy. He perfectly fixed and matched several single-pane windows in my old house, and they seal nicer than the original ones do!! It's a real treat to get to watch a true craftsman like Rob do his work. I would highly recommend him to others and will be using him again on future projects. Thanks again Rob!"

"I can't say if the final product will work because I hope our basement doesn't have flooding problems. I am giving 3 stars because I am really hoping the quality of the final finish isn't indicative of its function. The total amount of time (not man-hours) spent was about 15 hours and it cost about $9000 ($900 for the 3 windows). So you are looking at about $600 / hour being paid. The finish of the job made me feel like they were more interested in getting it done quickly and get out of there to maximize profits more than to do a quality job to maximize customer satisfaction. The details are below. First thing I noticed after day one was that they used a jack hammer to make the trench around the perimeter instead of a concrete saw. This gives an very jagged appearance to the final product and an incredibly thin layer of concrete along the jagged edge. It doesn't save them any more time and would have looked much nicer. Second: Of course it is dusty and they put plastic over some quite a few things but they could have spent an extra 30 minutes to staple plastic around the perimeter to seal it up much better then it was. Third: Their cleanup of the dust was pretty weak. Yeah, they swept it up but the entire floor still had a layer of grit along with the steps going up from the basement the path to the outside upstairs. Another 30 minutes of vacuuming the floor and steps and at least wiping down the upstairs dust would have been nice. Heck, I even had my own shop vac right there. Fourth: They use bagster for the debris which is totally fine but they left one of my trash cans 1/3 filled with construction fill in my driveway that I had to empty. Fifth: From doing the windows, I now have mortar coating my dryer vent, water lines and some wires that were below the windows. The outside window wells are also still full of mortar and block making for a nice swimming pool effect. Finally: I emailed my complaints to my sales guy and didn't at least get a "Sorry to hear that, let me send a guy back" or any acknowledgement. Like I said, I think the system will work as advertised but the final finish does not fill me with sense of confidence that quality work was done when they could have spent another 1-2 hours to just clean things up a bit more. I mean, they wrapped up around 2:30 in the afternoon."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

Window security film won’t prevent break-ins or stop your window from shattering from impact during extreme weather like hurricanes or tornadoes. However, applying security film is relatively inexpensive, and it can make breaking into your home significantly harder—often hard enough to deter burglars entirely—and keep your window from shattering on your floor after impact. For these reasons, window security film is often a worthwhile investment that helps protect your property.

ENERGY STAR®-certified windows are the most energy-efficient windows on the market. This certification means that the window meets strict efficiency guidelines set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency. While they might cost more upfront, they can save you money on your energy bills in the long run. ENERGY STAR®-certified windows lower household energy bills by an average of 12% annually.
