"I highly recommend them. We heard about Integrity Mechanical through a friend who had some work done on their beach house. Dallan Fadden, the owner of the company, came to our house to give us a quote on a "split" type air heating and cooling unit. He was prompt, personable and clear with his communication. He also lived up to the name of his company when he stuck to his original quote. We also have a sauna, and he assumed that we could use the same 220 box for the split, and that's what he quoted. He later found out the electrician would have to connect an entirely new 220 box, which costs more money. But rather than revising the cost, he kept the price the same. He and his assistant came and did the installation -- and managed the installation of the 220 by the electrician -- in less than the time they had anticipated. Every interaction was great. Again, I highly recommend them."

I called him and he spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me to try to diagnose the problem with the furnace. He discovered what the problem was and I was able to restart the furnace. Whether an HVAC damper should be open or closed depends on the season, the zone it controls, and the temperature in that zone. In the summer, open upstairs dampers and close lower-level dampers to get the most efficient cooling possible. In the winter, do the opposite. Cool air will naturally flow down to lower levels, while warm air will rise. This keeps your system from working harder and helps prevent common AC problems.

It depends on the type of AC unit and the extent of the mold growth. For example, if you have a small amount of mold in your central air conditioner, it’s worth cleaning it to protect your HVAC system and your health. In situations like these, you can often remove the mold yourself in a couple of hours. On the other hand, if you have a portable AC unit with a severe mold problem, it makes more sense to buy a new one. On average, replacing a portable AC unit costs $100 to $500.

If refrigerant levels are low, it can cause the evaporator coil to freeze up. Low freon causes a drop in pressure, which will make the coil too cold and cause moisture to freeze on the coil. Your system may be low on refrigerant because of a leak.
