"Cornelio updated my irrigation system at 1/2 of the price of the other bids. Then he walked around with me, explaining and showing the improvements, updating my watering schedule on my phone AND will come back and do my back flow inspection. He left addition hoes, connectors and garden pins in case I want to add or move something. He was very transparent, courteous and knowledgeable. It was a great experience. I highly recommend 7 Brothers Landscaping and Irrigation!"

"Pablo and his team did a wonderful job with our irrigation system. They gave a very reasonable quote , were transparent with their scheduling availability, delivered more than we had expected, and were quite accommodating of special requests. We had a couple hiccups such as a broken pipe in the ground and a solenoid that would not turn on via wire, but they addressed these problems. High-quality design choices were made by them, including 1 inch PVC pipes for lots of throughput. Our new lawn looks amazing! I highly recommend this company."

"Oscar and his crew arrived on site and worked like a house afire on Monday, getting the surface flat and receptive for sod. That included removing a large mound and leveling the lawn. The enriched soil was then spread. The second day they moved the three sprinkler heads and adjusted them for coverage, created the small retaining wall and installed the sod. They worked all day, both days and gave me the dream lawn I have wanted for three years. Great value; I was so pleased I added additional payment for the work. Couldn't recommend anyone more highly."

"Israel spent all day (7 hours) working on our lawn & beds, which had not had regular maintenance for six months. It looked great when done! He even showed up 5-6 days later to clean up more leaves. Very thorough and tidy. Well worth the money spent! This was a required precursor to our regular maintenance plan we started."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

The best grass type for shady areas depends on your region, your preferences, and your yard’s microclimate. Overall, the best cool-season grass for shade is ryegrass or tall fescue, while the best warm-season grass for shade is St. Augustine. But again, this can depend on what you’re looking for in the grass. The best grass for your shady yard might be one that looks good to you, one that tolerates high foot traffic, or grass with other characteristics that make it fit your lawn needs.

Many homeowners in warmer climates like this resilient, hearty grass because it can tolerate excessive heat and drought while developing into a lush lawn. Unlike other grasses, Bermuda grass grows and spreads quickly and can withstand excessive foot traffic. But whether Bermuda grass is good for lawns may depend on your geographic location, as this grass has a low tolerance for cooler temperatures, which causes it to go dormant and turn brown in the winter months.

You can reseed a lawn that has dead grass, but it is best to remove the dead patches before you begin. Removing the dead turf and testing the soil will help you determine what is killing the grass so you can make the necessary amendments to prevent the problem from recurring. Once you have made the appropriate adjustments, you can rake, fertilize, and reseed. If your lawn has many large dead patches, it may be more effective to remove all the existing grass, amend the soil, and start over from scratch.

Yes, you should water your grass after seeding it. During the first couple of weeks after laying the seed, you should water the lawn two or three times per day for 10 to 15 minutes each session. After that, you can switch to 20- or 30-minute watering sessions every other day.

Orchard grass seeds can spread quite easily, traveling with the wind as well as birds and animals. Common grass seed packets, especially in the popular tall fescue variety, may contain the occasional orchard grass seed by accident. Always purchase high-quality turf grass seed without "other crop seeds" mixed in.
