"Our HOA hired Technology First LLC ( Jamar Lampkin) to install a Lorex 6 camera security system on our brick masonry building. This involved positioning the NVR in a computer closet , running POE Cat 6 cable to 6 different locations on the exterior and garage areas of our building. It was complicated by the height that cameras needed to be positioned, running of conduit required , as well as having to install through concrete and brick. The job ended up taking longer than anticipated because of these complications, but Jamar did well responding to these issues. In the end the installation was done very professionally, and I am very pleased with the installation. Since we just completed the job, I cannot comment completely on the camera system itself , but I am confident that it will work as planned. If you are thinking about installing a video security system on your building; I would highly recommend Technology First LLC and Jamar Lampkin."

"Had TVs mounted to walls in bedroom and living room, as well as setting up home theater systems of DVD player, cable, and complete sound system. Work was exceptional. My tech, David, was great -- besides getting everything done efficiently, cleaned entire work area, then spent quite some time explaining how it all worked and didn't leave until he was sure I was confident doing it. Highly recommend Geek Squad!"

Stereo and Home Theater Systems questions, answered by experts

While a DIY installation is possible for basic setups, professional installation is recommended to ensure optimal results. A professional can guarantee proper speaker placement for the best sound, ensure visuals are calibrated correctly, and manage wiring to be hidden, organized, and free from interference.

Identifying the source of noises is your first step to soundproofing a room without overspending. Generally, sound comes from inside or outside of the house. Inside noises include creaking floors, living noises like TVs in the living room, cooking sounds, or kids being kids. External noises generally include incremental weather, disturbing neighbors, and street traffic. Inside noises require you to soundproof floors, ceilings, and doors, whereas outside noises may require you to soundproof your attic, windows, and walls facing the streets.

Yes, most services include necessary hardware like anchors, screws, and wall brackets, though custom shelving may require specific mounting materials.

For optimal sound distribution, position the front speakers equidistant from the TV, the center speaker below or above the screen, and the rear/satellite speakers behind or to the side of the listener. The subwoofer can be placed anywhere but may sound best in corner areas.

Dust components regularly, update firmware, and schedule servicing for professional calibration as needed.
