"This contractor is highly skilled in their trade. From the top of the organization to the bottom of the organization, everyone was courteous, attentive, and professional. Their work was deployed quickly and well organized. Over the past decade, my organization has completed fourteen (14) complex and successful stabilization of foundations. As needs arise, we will likely continue to work in collaboration with Ram Jack West."

"Work was well done. Only issue was the changing schedule of when they were coming, but then didn't come until a later time. Communication could have been better so we weren't left wondering. They did have a good number of workers when it was necessary to work the concrete. I would use them again."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

A major mistake during masonry work is applying non-breathable sealers to exterior brick. This traps moisture inside, causing the stone to crack during winter freezes in OR. Homeowners also skip installing proper gravel drainage behind retaining walls, leading to rapid failure from clay soil pressure. Always use climate-appropriate mortar mixes and secure necessary permits for structural repairs to ensure your home remains safe.

Helpful?

Safety during masonry work requires strict dust control, such as wet cutting or wearing an N95 respirator to prevent silica exposure. Extreme summer heat in OR demands mandatory rest breaks, shade, and plenty of water. Structural modifications require proper permits and inspections to ensure seismic stability. Hire licensed professionals for high-level chimney repairs to guarantee proper fall protection and compliance with strict fire safety codes.

Helpful?

Chimneys require regular masonry work due to heavy winter use and seasonal temperature swings. Retaining walls also face intense pressure from the heavy clay soils common in Grants Pass, leading to cracks and shifting. Exterior brick veneers and outdoor patios suffer from occasional freeze-thaw cycles and intense summer heat. Inspect these high-stress areas annually, and address damaged mortar immediately to prevent extensive structural deterioration.

Helpful?

Most residential masonry work takes between one and ten days of active labor, depending on the project size. However, intense summer heat in Grants Pass requires an additional three to seven days for proper mortar curing. Local professionals book out several weeks in advance during the peak spring and summer seasons. Schedule your project early and factor in extra time for municipal permit processing.

Helpful?

Constant sprinkler overspray during the dry Grants Pass summers accelerates mortar erosion. Allowing invasive vines like blackberry to climb brick walls forces roots into joints, causing cracks over time. Stacking firewood directly against exterior stone traps moisture and invites pests. You should adjust irrigation heads away from your home and trim back vegetation to protect your masonry work from unnecessary water damage and structural stress.
