After another contractor told me I needed $13000 to level 1 corner of garage, Ramjack said it wasn't necessary yet but to keep watch for anymore movement and let them know.

I'm finally getting around to writing a review, although the work happened awhile ago. When we noticed cracking in the walls at our house, we found three companies to call. I decided to hire the second company because they could do waterproofing in addition to structural repairs. I sure regret that decision! If I had called Ram Jack before hiring the other company, I would have been spared a two-year ordeal and the loss of thousands of dollars. Instead, I ended up calling Ram Jack for a second opinion, after problems developed with the other company. Curt and Ken (the owner) came to do an assessment of our house. They were thorough and looked at the whole picture to determine what issues needed to be addressed, rather than just trying to sell their products and services. Their only recommendations were to replace a rotting support post in the basement and to direct water away from the foundation. When I told Ken what the other company had recommended and that most of the work had already been completed, he seemed shocked but did not use this as an opportunity to trash his competitor. Other people who looked at our house were not as charitable! I think this says a lot about Ken's character. The one recommendation from the other company that I thought might be justified was to pier a corner of the house that had settled about two inches. I was ready to sign off on this work but Ken strongly discouraged me from doing it, explaining that it was purely a cosmetic issue and that future settling was extremely unlikely because the water issue had been taken care of. He told me to at least wait a year and reassess the situation, turning down what would have been a 15-20 thousand dollar job. What I did end up hiring Ram Jack to do, was to correct the problems caused by the other contractor and to get everything up to code. The City scrutinized all of the work done at our house because it was not up to code and the other company did not obtain the proper permits. Ken was willing to collaborate with an engineer and carpenter to get the job done at the lowest cost to me. Although some of the damage caused by the other company could not be remedied, I think he got the best results possible without doing more extensive repairs. Everyone I had contact with at Ram Jack was wonderful. They even offered to haul away debris left from a previous job. I sure appreciate Ken's willingness to take on a relatively small job and to step in and fix someone else's work; many companies are not willing to do that. If I ever have a need for structural repairs in the future, Ram Jack will be my FIRST phone call. I highly recommend this company.

It took the 4 visits from the work crew, about 30 emails, and 20 phone calls over the span of about a month to complete the work promised. The work crew showed up the 1st day asking me what they were suppose to do, because they had the wrong work order. The sales guy said they could lift the slumping part of my house no problem, but the work crew immediately told me they couldn't do it without breaking my foundation. We settled on just stabilizing the house so no further slumping would occur. Then I had 2 different guys to check out a beam that had bug damage (that a competitor found on another bid). Both Ram jack guys told me there was no damage. After they said they were done, I crawled under to take a look and was shocked. Only about a quarter of the work that was promised had been done. There were still unstable piers on rocks and shims (all of which I had asked to be replaced) and within about 30 sec. I could see that the main beam spanning my house was rotten and bug damaged. I could go on and on. My guess is that they underbid the project and tried to cut corners. The work crew was friendly and did the job they were instructed to do by the office, however it was just complete disorganization between the office and management. I'd could rarely get a hold of anyone on the phone, and rarely get anyone to call me back. In the end, they were much cheaper than the competitors bid, and they did make good on their word and fixed everything that should have been done...eventually, but not without a ton of headaches and stress on my end. If you use with them make sure inspect the finished product

They were both very professional and honest. Two of the nicest guys you will ever meet. They drove from Eugene to my house in Scio, Or. An hour drive . Did a complete evaluation of the cracks in my foundation. Then did a Level Survey on my entire house. They said my house was in good shape. Nothing to worry about. Then I thanked them both and ask how much I owed them. They said (NO) Charge. Then to top it off . They sent me my own copy of the survey report. I recommend Ram Jack West. Call Dan the owner. You will be happy you did. Thanks again

Got an onsite estimate. Limited detail. Flat cost of $2000 per helical pier material and placement , and generic $600 engineering fee. Total of $4600 with tax after deduction of $500 for Angie's list promotion. Would have liked ho see s more detailed breakdown of actual costs. But estimated cost for work was prohibitively high. So still looking for another solution. Basically paid $99 to get the estimate.
Description of Work
Small foundation/concrete work (reposition a patio extension supporting s spiral staircase). Not quite in RamJack's mainstream work. So, while they could do the work, the solution was likely overkill and too expensive.

I was pleased with the level of knowledge Chris, our Ram Jack estimator, had concerning foundation issues and our situation in particular. He was forthright, down to earth, and very honest. He was blunt about which routes would provide which results, and I appreciated his awareness of how much money each option would take and the short and long term results. We also had Terrafirma out for an estimate, and comparing the two estimates which covered the same bases was very interesting as Terrafirma was way more expensive for pretty much the same plan. Chris left us with his contact information and invited us to personally call him if we had further questions, something the other estimator did not do. Ram Jack also honors their estimates for six months instead of Terrafirma's 45 days. We have not solidified our plan yet, but will be using Ram Jack when we move forward with our foundation repair.

They were very professional and technically knowledgeable about construction methods used for this home. They offered a method that took this into consideration and the process went flawlessly. They treated us as if the project was just as important as any other of their larger ones. The guys worked hard and were professional but also answered questions for us and were friendly. After they finished it was hardly possible to tell they had been there.

Ram Jack understood the urgency of the work that needed to be done as another contractor who was going to do the work suffered an injury. Ram Jack was able to figure a more reasonable approach to doing the job and the structural engineer signed off on the plan. Everyone was happy.

BAD. My first email through AL set out the work that needed to be completed. They are listed on AL as pouring foundations. After flying to the location of the house to meet with them, and other providers, Ram Jack West tells me on the phone that they do not pour foundations. Information I could have used weeks ago before we scheduled. A complete WASTE of time. None of the information emailed through AL and resent directly to their company email address at their request made it to anyone at the company. I am beyond frustrated at losing several weeks.

Michael Adams was our primary contact for the service and he was very professional as well as approachable throughout the whole project, as were the office personnel with whom I further coordinated the work request and permit requests. The team who came to do the work came on an extremely cold winter day, yet they were friendly and smiling as well as careful. They explained what they were doing and let me ask questions about any aspect of the work. The service was completed in the time they told me to expect, and the clean-up was thorough. Following the project, we discovered a leak in our basement in the area of one of the stabilizers. I didn't know if it was caused by a drainage pipe being broken at the time of the work, or by the dirt being disrupted in the area of the dig, or what... or even if it was the fault of Ram Jack or just a coincidence. Michael came to the house and wasn't argumentative or unfriendly. He arranged for that small portion to be dug up so as to verify the cause of the problem. I was so grateful that it didn't have to be a matter of who's to blame but rather ascertaining what the problem was. Juan, who did the actual work, did not find a broken drain pipe or any other problem underground, but executed the job quickly and was very tidy about it. He located a flaw to the drain pipe ABOVE ground and gave that some attention in the hopes of remedying the situation. I am grateful to Michael, Juan, and the rest of the RamJack crew for their professionalism, honesty, integrity, and fine workmanship. Everyone was really pleasant to work with and the work was done in a professional manner.

Approximately 27 piers were put in all around our home's foundation. We had major structural damage from the expansive soils in our area. One side of our house had dropped 5 1/2 inches and the fireplace was starting to pull away from the house on the other side. The constant year after year upheaval of the soil being pushed up by the rains during our rainy season in Eugene, plus the extreme dryness of the soil compacting every summer had caused major movement and cracking. We actually had major work done on our house over 20 years ago, but it wasn't enough to remedy the problem. Engineering, techniques and materials have changed drastically over the years and they know so much more now on how to really fix a problem like this and make it last.
Description of Work
Ram Jack did major structural work on our home and did an awesome job. The crew was fantastic and such wonderful guys. I couldn't have asked for anyone nicer than these guys were. They were such good workers and did way over what we expected of them. Kudos to Ram Jack and Ken Marquardt for excellent customer service and a job well done!

We modified the scope of the contract before work started and this was done quickly and efficiently - although the revised quote was a bit delayed due to some internal communication issues. A date for the start of construction was agreed however, the project was started before the agreed start date. This was apparently a misunderstanding between the office and the on-site person. We contacted RamJack and they apologized for the early start. The crew was prompt and courteous and accommodated requests for finished height of the piles. Work was completed ahead of schedule. The site was cleaned up and left in good condition.

Excellent job. Arrived slightly late on first day because out here in the country gps units give incorrect directions. After that the Ram Jack team was here on time every day. Very professional. They worked hard and long every day, explained what they were doing, and finished ahead of time. From the time I contacted Ram Jack they were timely and patient with me. My many thanks to Nora, Chris, and Juan and his team. Thanks for a great job. The house was sinking on one side causing the doors to jam and dry wall to crack; now all the doors in the house close and open properly now and cracks have closed completely.

All utilities were located prior to work. Permits were taken care of and completed. Sanitary facilities for the crew were placed and removed promptly and placed so they were not a problem. The crew was courteous and prompt and did the work in a professional manner. They even did a little bit of extra sealing of the sites of foundation cracks in the affected area and pointed out a couple of things I was unaware of in the crawl space of my house that needed my attention. When the work was complete the clean-up was exceptional.
Description of Work
Set supports and angle iron under one corner of house foundation and lifted it back to within +/- 1/4 inch of the original level of the house. This required digging under the foundation, avoiding a buried electrical wire, removing ground cover, earth and decorative rock landscaping and replacing the materials after the work was done. The results were almost undetectable after completion. Great care was taken to protect landscape or return it to original condition as well as completing the foundation settling repair.
