"Purchasing the windows from the salesman was easy and he presented us with purchasing programs that work well for us. However, the real clincher that put the project over the top was the installation. Our installers were Yurii, Alex, and Rus. These guys definitely knew what they were doing. They arrived on time and removed the old awnings, shutters, and old aluminum windows. The kept me informed as to what they were doing and even asked my advice as to the placement of the new shutters. The installation, which included making the exterior hole for the new windows bigger and even trimming the windowsills, was a major effort that they handled like the true professionals they are. After they completed the five big window installation, they did a walk-through with my wife and I demonstrating how everything worked and what we should do and not do for the next 48 hours. They were courteous and informative throughout the project. And to cap it all off, their cleanup was impeccable. I would NOT give this team, headed up by Yurii, a 10. Instead, a 12 would be more appropriate. They were fantastic!"

"I recently hired AP Window Co. to upgrade the doors and windows in my home, and I couldn't be happier with the results! From start to finish, their service was outstanding. The team was professional, punctual, and skilled in their work. They helped me choose the perfect doors and windows for my home, and the installation went quick, and smoothly. Not only do my new doors and windows look fantastic, but I've also noticed a significant improvement in outside noise and efficiency. I highly recommend AP Window Co. for anyone looking to enhance their home's appearance and functionality. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Thank you for a job well done!"

"So much more than just roofing. It started w/replacing a shed & roofing the patio. It turned into all of that + reroofing the house/rebuilding the porch cover/replacing windows & rebuilding a fence. If you want professional quality work, great communication, flexibility, completely trustworthy & a sense of humor, this is the company to call! Provided detailed quotes. They listened to our (my) vision & had recommendations when asked or the situation needed them. Showed up ready to work when they said they would. We could not be happier with all the work they did for us. Will we use them in the future? Absolutely - we won't call anyone else! Call them and you won't be sorry."

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.
