"I contacted Northwoods to trim three Douglas fir trees approximately 75 feet tall in my SW Portland home. They were not able to do the job when they initially said because of an equipment failure but they followed through and did an excellent job trimming and clearing the deadwood from the trees. I was very happy with the job they did and with the clean up so I will definitely call them first when I have more work."

"They took the time to review my entire request for clearing overgrown brush and trees. Offered some great suggestions and quoted a very fair and reasonable price for what I wanted accomplished. Their work was great and didn't leave my premises until I was completely satisfied. They were very courteous and professional and made me feel like I was a valued customer. I would recommend them to anyone."

"The Quality crew arrived right on time a couple of days later, and with what I can only call amazing efficiency the team cleared and chipped the debris, climbed and repaired the tree, and cleaned up the yard. They took special care in laying a protective path so the lawn was not damaged during the work. And the Douglas fir tree looks great and feels safe! This is the third project Quality has done for us, and we will definitely use them again! I highly recommend them."

"This is the 3rd or 4th year we’ve had their crew come out to help clear wild grass and blackberry regrowth. As usual, the job was completed efficiently. Will definitely continue to use this company."

"Two crew members actually showed up a day ahead of schedule to begin work, with the full crew arriving the second day.  We were told that the job would include the removal of three trailer loads of yard debris, but unfortunately they left a large (taller than me) pile of debris in the back yard at the end of the second day.  I did call and speak to Doug about this issue; he told me that he would get someone out to clean it up but that has yet to occur.

"I would highly recommend this company for tree removal, shrub removal. We hired them to take down a large pear tree that was too close to and damaging our neighborâ s garage. They arrived right on time and set to work. Angelo was clearly a professional in that he took the tree down without any problems and in a very efficient and speedy manner. Panta and Santos assisted him and moved the branches to the shredder. They were like a well oiled machine. We also had them trim back. very tall Ivy and they took care of that for us quickly. When they were all finished they cleaned up the yard. A few weeks later Panta returned to remove the stump after the city gave us the go ahead. He was dedicated to the task and voila! The stump was gone. Again he cleaned up. I would recommend this company highly. My wife and I could not be happier with their work and the way they related to us and the task at hand. They are very professional, skilled and efficient. John Pank"

"Cleared the land much faster than expected. Really did an excellent job. He took the time to make sure the land was more level in places. Pricing was extremely fair. Definitely worth your time."

"Great experience. I have a 5 acre property with 2 sloped acres of field. They mow it effectively, reseed well, prune large trees, and are generally helpful with everything yard related."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Before property transactions or major improvements to ensure accuracy.

When planning for land survey costs, you should consider the following elements as major contributors to the overall cost:

  • Size of your property in terms of acres or square feet

  • Complexity of the terrain in terms of hills, elevation changes, rocks, water, and other features

  • Type of survey you need (boundary survey, topographic survey, or a combination of survey types)

  • Distance traveled for the professional surveyor

A boundary survey measures the boundary lines of the property, only the length of each property line and their locations. A land survey includes a more in-depth measurement of the property, including the heights and depths of the terrain measured by a topographic survey. A boundary survey is typically the most cost-effective method for marking and measuring property lines.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water.

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.

It is almost always necessary to hire a land surveyor near you to ensure your fence sits on the right side of the property line. Mistaking the shape of your property can lead to fines and costly changes if you have to move or adjust the privacy fence—not to mention some surly looks from your neighbor. We recommend jumpstarting your fence planning in the spring to ensure there is plenty of time to map out your plan before construction season.
