"They were professional and courteous and worked hard to get it clean. It took longer than expected because the previous owners hadn't cleaned the ducts in a long time. But I still got a great deal with the coupon offered on Angie's list."

"I have hired Pacific Crest three times over the last few years. Once for a kitchen drain snaking, then to have my shower faucets replaced, and most recently to replace a garbage disposal. Each time they have been quick to respond and the work as been great. Nick is professional and informative. Anna always surprises me with how nice and accommodating she is, even taking phone calls well after business hours when I never expected anyone to answer and was only calling to get their hours from a machine. I highly recommend them!"

"This is our third remodeling experience with Charles, following earlier work on our master bathroom and kitchen.  As with the previous work, we are very happy with his effort.  First and foremost, Charles is efficient throughout the process, from the bid to job completion.  We replaced the entire bathroom, including a new bath (with shower), sink, cabinet, toilet, tiling, and fixtures.  Charles and his team installed the new room within approximately one week of work time, excluding delivery of parts.  He also made some minor improvements to our other bathroom, which was appreciated.  Once again, we are pleased with the final product, and we would recommend him without question.

"I really can't say enough good things about this company. The entire process was smooth and seamless. Everyone on the team was great with communication and updates as well as being incredibly nice. Ivy handled our initial inquiry and went on to design the layout in our very challenging small space in a 100 year old home. She maximized the space as well as making it beautiful. Peter the owner went above and beyond with the building and installation of the cabinets. The onsite team was awesome as well. They kept right to their timeline and worked well with the other vendors. excellent experience all around and we love our new kitchen.

"A car crashed into my mailbox on Sunday night. It broke a 4" square post in half and ripped the rest of the post out of the ground. On Monday afternoon, I called Walt. By noon on Tuesday, I had a new mailbox installed. My mailbox post is in a 5 ft deep ditch. So he and his wife, Tammy, had to get down there to dig a new hole for the post. They said they would arrive at 11 am, which they did. They had the job done before noon. I asked about some other work I would like done, got an estimate, liked it, and decided to use them again."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

If the cost of repairing a leaking garbage disposal is close to the cost of replacing the disposal, then fixing the unit might not make sense. When deciding if you should repair or replace your garbage disposal, consider the age of your garbage disposal, the cost of the repair, and whether your garbage disposal has had other problems recently to help you decide if the cost of repairing the leak is better than the cost of replacing the disposal.

As with many appliances, proper maintenance is key to maximizing your garbage disposal’s life span. If everyone in your household is on board with proper care and maintenance, like running water while operating the disposal, you should get plenty of years out of your unit. Avoid putting the wrong food items down the disposal, including pasta, rice, bread, and more.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

While the drain connection for a garbage disposal is nearly universal and fits standard sink drain holes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, the size of the disposal unit itself is not. You must have enough space in the cabinet underneath your sink to accommodate the disposal's housing. A larger model may not fit in a compact cabinet or if the existing plumbing is arranged in an unusual way. Before buying a new garbage disposal, measure the available space under your sink. If you are replacing an old unit, it's often easiest to choose a new model of a similar size.

When a dishwasher discharges its wastewater, it uses a pump to quickly move a lot of water. If anything in the drain line or the garbage disposal impedes the high volume of water, it will back up into the sink through the drain or the garbage disposal. Following regular dishwasher maintenance tips like clearing clogs, keeping them cleared, and occasionally running the disposal will eliminate the problem.
