"Alex was great -- timely, communicated well, professional. His team was able to meet my tight deadline and tight budget, which I appreciate so much. The contractor who did the flooring install itself was timely, professional, clean and tidy -- I was home working at the time and he was respectful of my space. I was anxious about this project for a variety of reasons and they did a fantastic job. Will definitely hire again."

"Bill was on time definitely experienced and helpful in final decision making for our kitchen backsplash as we couldn't decide exactly how we wanted it laid out combining traditional tile with tile we pickup while in Mexico. Looks great all finished. Bill knows his work and was there with all tools and prepared to start when he said he would. And finished in less than two days. Thanks Bill, will call again when starting bathroom."

"Robert's crew performed demolition, clearing & grubbing, and grading of our existing yard before installing a beautiful new fence, synthetic turf lawn and paver patio covered with a heavy duty pergola. Our yard is now the talk of the town."

"R3J Residential Services did an excellent job! We previously hired Ron (owner) to remodel our master bathroom in 2019 and he and his subs did an excellent job. When we decided to update our guest bathroom and utility room (plus some other work), we only wanted Ron to do it as we were extremely confident of the high quality of his work and his reasonable prices. We did not even get a second quote from another contractor because we knew he would do a great job and his price would be fair. Everything came out perfect - the quality and installation of the cabinets, countertops, and flooring were excellent. Ron is an extremely good project manager; his subs were always on time and he kept to the schedule he had proposed at the beginning of the project. Ron is very trustworthy and he cleans up at the end of every day during the project. He is the best contractor I have ever worked with on a major project in my house. I would recommend him in a heartbeat on any home project and would definitely hire him again for any remodeling/update to my home."

"Florin and his brother were prompt, efficient and totally professional. They were able to complete our laundry room flooring in one day and it looks great. I am recommending FC Stone and Tile for any future tiling job we might have."

"I had them install flooring on my bottom floor and then also new tile in my bathrooms. They were finished in less than a week which was crazy to me. It feels like I got a new house in less than a week. I might try to do more projects soon since they told me they could do my kitchen and paint as well. My experience with them is great."

Customers say: True professional

"We had a badly installed shower floor replaced by the tile guys in October 2018. It was beautiful and appeared well done when complete. They were fast and appeared diligent and skillful during the repair work. 5 years later, we saw the pebble tile floor starting to fail. It began sinking in multiple locations and chipping grout, allowing water to weep between and under the pebble tile causing its substrate to dissolve, causing the tile above it to sink in the dissolved cavity. After hiring another team to demo the shower floor for the second time, we're seeing that substandard practices and materials were contributing to the tile floor failure. Our current repair team still doesn't understand why there was foam installed under the pebble tile waterproofing "fabric layer". Also, the mortar used to attempt to fuse the tile to the fabric never did adhere and the new team was able to easily and cleanly pull the pebble tile and mortar off of the fabric with their fingers."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

It’s important to leave a gap in the corner when tiling to allow room for tile expansion. Leaving between one eighth of an inch to one tenth of an inch is enough space.

Impact, water infiltration, or shifting subfloors often cause damage. Regular inspections help prevent significant issues.

As long as you follow the instructions on your peel-and-stick tile packaging, it should not damage your walls. A possible instance when you may accidentally damage your walls is if you install tiles improperly using additional adhesives that aren’t recommended.

Also, you can damage your walls if you’re not careful when removing tile. For example, you could accidentally make holes in the drywall with a paint scraper if you don’t heat the adhesive long enough before trying to pry it off.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.
