Small jobs welcome

"Nick was the Ultimate Tile Master!! First, he found the exact tile from Italy that I wanted. He painstakingly cut all the different sizes I wanted to complete my design. He returned within a day for a modification to accomodate my new larger shower faucet controls. And the final feat...(after NO other tile installer would take this on), he cut a long skinny backsplash from special blue granite I had saved in my garage, to match my countertop!! Nick goes WAY above and beyond to achieve perfection!!! He is absoutely the best!"

"Never used Angie's List before, and Kibuk Tile & Stone did a great job installing the shower pan, water proofing the area and installing the tile. They worked hard and completed the job within the promised time frame."

"We hired Pablo for a luxury vinyl removal and installation job and he was excellent. He was very communicative over email and phone, showed up exactly on time, did a very high quality job, and provided a low and fair estimate. He is an extremely hard worker, not to mention very kind and polite. He the best contractor I have worked with and I would recommend him to anyone!"

"Artistic Stone and Design did an incredible job from start to finish. From the beginning to the finish project I was totally impressed. All of my questions were answered quickly and with a lot of patience when I couldn't make up my mind about one part of my counter tops. I'm planning to go to them again when I'm ready to upgrade my bathrooms. I whole heartedly recommend them to friends and family family."

"My old fence finally lost out to time and needed replaced. This was not a small project as it involved almost 250 feet of fence and a retainment wall. I contacted three contractors and received bids for the work. Superior Home Custom Remodeling's bid was the best price of all three and he included a third rail on the fence for strength and included metal fence posts that the others did not. We scheduled the job and Ismael the owner and general contractor showed up with his crew. They quickly removed the old fencing and put in the new fence in just a few days. Being surrounded by three different neighbors with animals Ismael did the work in sections so the fence was only down for a short period of time before being replaced. The fencing material was all top quality cedar and the run of the fence was done professionally. The crew worked around our plants and shrubs and kept the work area clean and tidy. I am very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them to anyone needing fence work or home remodeling."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

You have creative freedom when it comes to your tile trim. If, however, you are considering skipping tile trim, please think twice about that. It is good practice to install tile trim, whether on walls or flooring. Think, too, about the aesthetic you are going for and choose a trim type and color that will help enhance the space.

The choice of whether to tile or use an acrylic tub surround is up to you and can be based on a number of factors, including aesthetics, cost, waterproofing, ease of cleaning, and maintenance.

Tile is a beautiful, classic bathtub surround choice; while tile installation cost is higher, it’s customizable and offers visual appeal. Tile is also harder to clean and presents waterproofing problems because of grout lines. Acrylic surrounds can be more affordable, don’t require much maintenance, and are easier to clean. However, they aren’t usually as visually appealing and may need to be replaced if they become damaged.

Yes, cracked tiles allow water to seep through the substrate or subfloor, leading to mold and mildew growth. It can also cause severe structural damage. At the very least, water damage can cause your tile to lift from the substrate, meaning one cracked tile can lead to several cracked tiles. It’s a good idea to waterproof tile in areas with direct water exposure or lots of moisture.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.

You cannot tile directly over hot mop waterproofing because tile requires a smooth, solid surface to adhere properly. Additionally, the shower bed pan needs to be raised and sloped toward the drain to prevent water from pooling. However, you can hot mop and apply a sloped mortar bed over the top (to which the tile can then be adhered).
