"Cost for the windows was exactly as quoted. Windows were installed in a few hours with no issues during the installation. Workers were professional. I am completely satisfied with the installation and price. I would recommend Radiant Windows for all your window and construction needs."
When windows are 10 feet tall, then a motorized lift is quite handy to assist with the installation.
In the winter months, it is always a good idea to bring extra lighting because the the sun sets so early and we must stay to complete the installation.

"Hired Hanson's to install new windows on my enclosed front porches. Work won't be complete until after the windows are made in about 6 to 12 weeks. Sales rep. Was very kind and very knowledgeable."

Windows questions, answered by experts

For Toledo’s climate, double or triple-pane windows with Low-E coatings and argon gas fill offer strong insulation and energy efficiency. Vinyl or fiberglass frames resist humidity and temperature shifts, while closed-cell foam insulation and polyurethane-based sealants help prevent drafts. EPDM rubber weatherstripping and durable flashing materials, like aluminum, are ideal for withstanding severe weather. These choices help maximize comfort and reduce long-term maintenance needs.

Helpful?

Toledo homeowners can address minor drafts by applying weatherstripping designed for cold climates and sealing small gaps with flexible, freeze-resistant caulk. Use plastic insulation film during winter for extra energy efficiency. Clean glass with ammonia-free products and tighten loose hardware as needed. Always use proper ladder safety, avoid repairs during wet or icy conditions, and contact a professional for cracked glass, structural concerns, or issues in older homes.

Helpful?

In Toledo, unexpected costs often arise from uncovering rot or water damage in window sills, especially in older homes with clay-rich soil. Permit fees, energy code upgrades, and additional requirements for homes in historic neighborhoods can also catch homeowners off guard. Weather-related delays, moisture remediation, and disposal of old materials may add to project complexity. It’s wise to plan for these possibilities to avoid surprises during your window project.

Helpful?

In Toledo, homeowners often overlook necessary permits for window replacement, which can lead to project delays. Another frequent mistake is selecting windows that lack proper energy efficiency ratings for Ohio’s fluctuating climate. Failing to address hidden moisture issues, especially in older homes with unique construction, can result in long-term damage. Skipping professional insulation or ignoring local weather patterns, like lake-effect snow, can also compromise comfort and durability.

Helpful?

Window maintenance in Toledo should include removing winter salt buildup each spring to prevent frame corrosion, and inspecting caulking and weatherstripping after freeze-thaw cycles for air leaks. Before fall, check seals and install storm windows for added insulation. Throughout the year, clear weep holes to prevent water damage, watch for condensation as a sign of humidity issues, and lubricate hardware to ensure smooth operation despite temperature swings.
