"I hired Tristate Complete Home Repair and Maintenance to fix a bad tile job in our new shower. They came out and worked diligently to fix the sharp tile replacement and drain issue. Jeff was professional, helpful, and answered our questions. I appreciate this company and will use them in the future for other home repairs and maintenance issues."

"We shopped around quite a bit and kept coming back to the Carpet Store in Beavercreek (their main location is in Centerville).  The selection, quality and customer service kept us coming back.  We actually had them come out in December 2012 and again in February 2013 and both times the entire process was great.  We worked with Joanie(sp?) who knows her stuff.  Loved how direct she was and that she makes sure you know pros/cons re quality of carpet for your specific needs.  Since we were selling our house she knew we didn't want to spend a ton of money but needed something that looked great that would be a bonus to the sale of the house.  We had the same installers each time and they showed up around 10am and worked non-stop (not even sure if they ate lunch).  They were very pleasant and again knew what they were doing.  Would recommend this company - just a nice, hardworking group of people.

"I wanted this work to be done before family arrived. Steven even worked on Sunday to get my project done in time. They were very neat and the grout refresher looks great. The work required longer than initially anticipated but Steven did not charge anything above his initial estimate."

"My experience was not like the 5 stars from previous ratings. This was a 12 SF backsplash job. Mike was late every day sometimes 1-2 hours late. For someone who has been in this line of work fora a while, I found the work was sloppy. He removed the Sheetrock when he removed the old tile which was ok. When he installed what looked like left over scraps of Sheetrock, he did not ensure the joints were smooth and even. He installed the tile anyway and it was instantly obvious the tiles were not even with the others. Had him remove the tile and make the joints smooth so the tile would also be even. In one area when he removed the tile, he also removed all but a thin layer of Sheetrock. Instead of filling that area in with Sheetrock to have something for the tile to stick to, he instead piled on mud and taped those tiles to other tiles which did not hold. He installed chipped tile. I had to clean up after him every day. He wore his wet boots into my house, he left dried mud and grout everywhere. On the floor, on my granite countertops, on the cabinets, stove, faucet, etc. He placed his metal tile cutting tools directly on my granite and cut tiles. All in all I am very disappointed."

Grout Tile Cleaners questions, answered by experts

The best thing to clean bathrooms with is an all-purpose cleaner, a mixture of white vinegar and water (50:50 ratio), and a glass cleaner for mirrors and glass surfaces. You can also use baking soda on areas with soap residue or mildew. The best tool to clean a bathroom depends on the specific task, but a sponge and a fresh towel are versatile options.

Most grout sealers last one to two years before they need reapplication. For wet areas such as a bathroom or shower, you should reapply grout sealer at least once a year. In areas of your home that don't see as much moisture or traffic, the grout can go up to two years before it needs resealing.

Yes, grout haze should be removed prior to sealing and the grout should be allowed to dry thoroughly. All grout, except epoxy, should be sealed to protect it from erosion, dirt, and spills. Sealing grout also prevents it from absorbing moisture which can lead to mold and mildew growth.

When cleaning porcelain tiles, avoid products that contain ammonia, bleach, and other harsh chemicals. Acid-based cleansers can damage the tile, though you can clean them with a diluted mixture of one-quarter cup white vinegar mixed with one gallon of hot water. It is important always to use a soft-bristled brush or sponge, since hard bristles and steel wool can scratch the tile.

Yes, if you’re strapped for supplies, boiling hot water can be a great alternative for getting rid of soap scum. However, as this method calls for a bit of soaking, it’s best used when cleaning your bathroom sink or bath basin (or on small objects you can submerge). All you have to do is plug your sink or bathtub drain and pour in enough boiling water to cover the soap scum. Allow it to soak for five minutes, drain, and follow up with an additional hot water rinse to remove any lingering residue.
