"Hired for a water softener. I love how my water feels and tastes. My hair and skin are so much healthier, actually water at other people’s homes’ gross me out now. I work in healthcare, this is absolutely something I’ll be promoting to my patients and friends. Thanks WATERBIRD!"

"turned out to be a simple fix, pipe wasn't secured. Another business told me I would have to rip out the entire bathtub to fix problem. Instead it was a 15 minute tighten of the seal."

"We like them for that. It was a trained, that's the name of the system they put in.  It was through another company, and they had an add and would give special financing, and they provide services through Logan Services. So they have always been real good. This is about the third year I think now. Even my neighbor asked who we had, and I recommended them to him. He got one from them and then they sent me a $100 gift card. So I thought that was pretty good.

We have been in this house for 28 years, and I have a little office upstairs in one of the bedrooms, and until we had their system in. In the summer it was just unbearable up here. No matter what we did it was just unbearable heat. We had that air conditioner that came when this house was built. After we had the new one put in its been like being down stairs. It hasn't been too hot up here. Also the electric bills are cheap. We bought it from Logan but financed it through a different company. They must have a bunch of different companies that they partner with.

I would give them A's for everything. We keep a service contract with them."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Because it’s been through the water cycle, evaporating and becoming slightly acidic thanks to dissolved carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, rainwater tends to be naturally soft compared to groundwater, which has just been in contact with limestone. However, the natural hardness level of water always depends on where you are and other factors.

If your water softener repair is fairly straightforward, like a simple filter replacement, then you can probably do it yourself with little risk. However, anything beyond a simple fix should be addressed by someone with extensive plumbing expertise to avoid costly water softener problems, like leaks.

That said, even simple problems can be complicated to diagnose, particularly if your water softener is attached to a whole-house treatment system. So, unless you feel absolutely certain that the problem is an easy fix that you can take on yourself, it's probably best to hire a plumber to diagnose and fix the problem.

Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.

Yes. Hard water is what causes scale buildup, and a whole-house filter provides numerous benefits beyond water softening. Any water that enters your home will go through the filter, which cleans up all water that you will use for cooking, bathing, and drinking. A whole-house water filter also blocks harmful particles like heavy metals.

Softener systems extend appliance life spans, improve skin and hair health, and reduce pipe buildup by removing minerals like calcium and magnesium.
