"Amanda Plumbing is absolutely AMAZING!!!! I had them out over the weekend for a leak that was going into my ceiling. It turns out that it was from our upstairs bathroom toilet (which we were going to replace anyways) The plumber Tyler was super kind and helpful. He fixed our leak and installed the new toilet that I had on my hubby's to do list. I was also surprised about how reasonable their weekend rates were and how fast Tyler got out to us. Thank you again. We will defiantly be calling you back when we have a tankless water heater put in!!!"

Customers say: Super punctual

"Great! The plumber who came to our house had 40+ years of experience. He knew exactly how to address our plumbing problems and even educated me on how to easily and simply test for toilet seal leaks and how to keep the kitchen drains and garbage disposal in better condition. I really appreciated that! He worked extra hard at unsticking the garbage disposal blades to save us the cost of purchasing a new one when ours was still in good condition. I felt he treated our house and our plumbing problems with as much care and thought as he would his own. But that's typical of the experience I've had with this company through about 15 years of using their services. They are exceptional!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Fine. I have renters in the house and their description of the "problem" wasn't very helpful. Turns out there was no real problem (toilet needed handle held down to completely flush sometimes [I have that happen occasionally at my house as well]), and so Wells had to come twice (they didn't know what equipment to bring). I went ahead and had the services performed just because the tank hadn't been cleaned out in a while. Bruce and his boys do great work, and they are always so nice. I can't really judge price, as Wells is the company I always call. Sometimes they don't arrive as soon as they predict, but if they run into unforeseen issues at an earlier appointment, what can they do? They do call to give an "I'm on my way" heads-up phone call."

"John and his brother did a great job analyzing and then replacing a toilet in our basement. Efficient in his work and very fair in his pricing, we were happy with the results (Covid proper). One small glitch in that a seal was slow dripping, so he came back and made it perfect. John is my new â  plumber on call.â Â"

"They were timely with great customer service. Communication is essential to me and they scheduled the job in a timely manner. Installed a couple fixtures and repaired toilet flap. So pleased that I've given their name and info to another customer. I will be contacting them again."

"EcoPlumbers sent Josh out, He was very nice and knowledgeable...and patient! I say that because the fancy toilet I bought from Home Depot was missing parts, and I had to go back while he waited at my home to exchange it. I apologized profusely for the waste of time, and he was very understanding. No apology needed. Josh did great work, and we are happy with our upstairs toilet replacement!"

"Services: Unclog drain, Repair toilet, Repair pipe. // Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness // Haines was recommended to me saying they were good at their job. I called them Monday, Feb 15th about a clogged drain, they came out Tues Feb 16th at the time I was told they would be there, which was great! They were there from 3:30 pm to 6:50 pm. Some repairs had to be made to the laundry tub drain and my toilet had to be lifted so they could access that portion of the drain. After the toilet was replaced, the shut-off valve leaked, so I asked them to replace that also. The work that was done created quite a mess... BUT, when they were finished you would never know that. Everything was cleaned up so well and disinfected, it looked nice and smelled nice. The workmen were very professional and knowledgeable about their job. I will add this company to my contacts as a reliable source for repairs."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Toilets typically connect to your main vent stack, a vertical pipe that runs through all finished levels of your home and exits through the roof. It’s located behind the walls, but if you have an unfinished basement or a utility closet, you may find a portion of it running the vertical length of the space. Some basement toilets use an air admittance valve instead, which is a small vent located in the wall directly behind the toilet that extends upward a few feet from the drain.

Replacing a standard toilet with an elongated one is straightforward. The two types can be installed using the same existing drainpipe and plumbing. If you have a small bathroom, make sure that an elongated toilet doesn’t violate local building codes for clearance, which is the space between fixtures and walls.

Yes, you can install a basement bathroom without breaking concrete by using an upflush toilet system, which includes a macerator pump. These systems sit on top of the concrete floor, so you don't have to drill into it to install plumbing. The macerator pump breaks up waste until it is soft enough to pass through a discharge pipe to the main sewage line. This method saves you time and money by bypassing the need to break concrete to connect drain pipes.

The average cost to replace a toilet fill valve is around $100, and prices range from $50 up to $150, depending on your location, the experience of the plumber, and how accessible your toilet is. In most cases, a professional plumber can replace your fill valve in under an hour, although it might take longer if they also need to fix or replace other components at the same time.

The average cost to hire a plumber is typically between $45 and $200 per hour, with a common average rate around $125 per hour. This cost can vary based on your location, the plumber's experience, and the complexity of the job. Rates are often broken down by experience level: an apprentice may charge $45 to $90 an hour, a journeyman $60 to $110 an hour, and a master plumber $80 to $200 an hour. While hourly rates are standard, some plumbers may charge a flat fee for routine projects or offer project-based pricing. It's also common for plumbers to charge a minimum service or trip fee. For reference, some typical flat-rate costs for common jobs include: drain unclogging ($220), leaky faucet repair ($270), burst pipe repair ($400), toilet repair ($300), and water heater repair ($600). Note that these rates are for standard service hours; emergency, holiday, and after-hours calls will cost significantly more.
