"I had a downdraft and smoke issue while using the fireplace. The tech resolved the issue and explained me how to avoid the smoke and even started a fire with me so I know how to use the fireplace safely. Excellent customer service and very knowledgeable on fireplace operation."

"Called several places for quotes, Rob came out to have a look which some other did not, so that was appreciated. Price was competitive and he seemed to know what he was talking about so I decided to go with him. Called in late fall and they were able to schedule the install in a week which was appreciated considering the season. Installers showed up on time, did a good job, made sure I was satisfied. Overall I would recommend them and use them again."

Customers say: Quality work

"Rusian did a stacked stone fireplace (covering existing brick). He told us where to choose the stone we wanted which we wouldn't have known. He ordered it, picked it up and installed. Made it very easy for us. It came out beautifully. He also took care f some loose brick on our front steps and around the outside of the house. We are very happy with his work, and highly recommend him."

Customers say: Terrific value

"The team at Mueller did an amazing job. A 320 sq foot patio was installed in less than a week from clearing the ground, laying several layers of material and finishing to a perfect party patio. I could not be happier and will contact this team when I have any more projects!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Most installations take 1-3 days, depending on system complexity and building size.

According to the National Fire Protection Association’s Code NFPA 25 (titled “Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems”), private fire hydrants must undergo inspection once per year, with an accompanying flow test and any necessary maintenance performed on the same schedule. Keep in mind that your town, city, or county may adopt more or less strict testing requirements.

You should only use water to put out a fire in your fireplace in an emergency situation. Even then, it is better to use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire quickly. Make sure every room in your house that has a fireplace also has a fire extinguisher—and that everyone in your household knows how to use one.

You should have either an ABC or K-rated fire extinguisher in the kitchen. ABC fire extinguishers put out wood, trash, paper, plastic, and textile fires along with grease, oil, gas, kerosene, and electrical fires. A class K fire extinguisher is specifically rated for use in the kitchen and is designed to extinguish combustible cooking materials, including grease and fat.

Chimneys should either be sealed or waterproofed, which is different from sealing off—closing at both ends—a chimney. Waterproofing and sealing are both crucial steps to take to prevent water damage and the chimney leaking inside the house. While waterproofing is more comprehensive, both help safeguard your chimney, extending its life span and preventing expensive repairs.
