"Angi's gave me quotes from 5 pros. ZOOM DRAIN was at the top of the list. Now they are at the top of my list as well! The outside drainage line from my sump pump was blocked. All pros listed were great plumbers. In checking their web sites, only ZOOM DRAIN appeared to offer all the specialized services and tools [pipe video, underground pipe locator, hydro jetting] I needed. I called ZOOM DRAIN and spoke with Brooke. She was a great help. James and Josh showed up on time the next day and did their magic. They replaced six feet of the broken drainage pipe. And we were 100% fixed. They even caulked the solvent welded new pipe fittings to add extra protection from future tree root damage. I avoided the full house-to-street tractor trenching done by my neighbors. I felt treated like FAMILY by all from ZOOM DRAIN! I thought their pricing was more than fair for the work involved. I would use them again for any of the services they provide. I highly recommend ZOOM DRAIN!"

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, sewage smells can originate from a floor drain. If the P-Trap in the floor drain dries out or if there's a clog or other issue in the plumbing system, sewer gasses can escape through the drain, causing nasty odors. Regularly pouring water into the drain helps maintain the water seal and prevent those smells, but if the smell persists, you should have a plumbing professional inspect the drain for potential problems.

There are a few ways to unclog a toilet without a plunger. Break up the clog with homemade solutions containing soap, vinegar, and baking soda, or simply let hot water spend some time in the drain. You can also use a two-liter soda bottle filled with water to push pressurized water into the pipe to dislodge the debris (see the steps above).

You should inspect and clean your French drain at least once per year to keep it in good working order. Regular maintenance can help identify clogs, buildup, and damage before they become bigger problems, which increases the lifespan of your drain. The frequency with which a drain clogs can depend on factors like the amount of debris, the quality of the installation, and the type of filter used. If your drain accumulates a lot of sediment, it may require more frequent cleaning. It's also a good practice to check the access and exit points after heavy storms. If you notice reduced drainage or any signs of a clog, clean the drain as soon as possible.

Yes, many services include camera inspections to identify the cause of the blockage. Confirm with your provider.

Baking soda and vinegar aren’t just great for making a volcano for your kid’s science project. You can also pour this dynamic duo down your shower drain to dissolve hair clogs. If that doesn’t do the trick, you can step it up with a commercial liquid drain cleaner.
