Jim arrived at my Moms house unsolicited. My mom is 90 years old and living alone. He charged her $6,200 for sealing a couple of wood trim pieces and caulking a couple of windows. He told her he replaced the cable on the roof connecting old lightning rods, but when I arrived to see what he had done for $6,200, the cable was not replaced. He only did about $500 worth of work, if that. He is a scammer and a liar. Not to be trusted for sure.

Responsive, fair pricing. Quality of installation could have been done a little better as rods were slightly crooked and they did not pull the wiring tout on top of house so not totally parallel to roof line.

I highly recommend them. One of my lighting rods was damaged during the tragic tornado that hit Ocean Ridge Plantation in South Carolina. They fixed it at no charge. Friendly guys, poor work. Unprofessional. After they left, I found the cable-to-ground rod connections were only finger tight! The wire could be easily pulled out! And the rods were not fully driven in or protected from mowers, etc. That was bad enough, but the **price creep** was considerable. Quoted $3000, the final bill was $4750... I would NOT recommend MidAmerica.

There were additional expenses due to damage repair from a lightning strike.

Mr. Jim Gorman who is the owner of the business called me back within a half hour of my email posting. He visited my home 3 days later, inspected things, and told me what the approximate cost would be. He and his helper then installed an entire lightning protection system on both my house and a back garage/storage area. He did things exactly as I wanted in every way. Also threw in a free weathervane which increased the beauty of my home. I would have no objection to recommending this gentleman and his company to anyone who is in need of a competently installed lightning protection system for their home/property. MID-AMERICA LIGHTNING RODS is one fine company run by a man who cares about doing good work according to the latest safety codes etc. Having lost my previous retirement home to lightning, it was very important to me to get this job done and quickly because the thunderstorm season is upon us and with the climate change, those storms are very wicked, especially here out in the country where i live!

I was pleased with the installation of the lightning rods--communication was great and the work was done quickly. What I wasn't happy with is he quoted me a price that was less then my actual bill was BUT the price was still less then two other contractors bids.
