"They have done things right. Removed the siling fan and installed a light fixture. The price was quite high. I got $56 discount for the angies list, and paid $142, which was ok. But, the original price was $198. They came the same day I called, which was great! But, I don't think I will pay for $200 for a light fixture installation next time."

"Electrician diagnosed and replaced a few faulty outlets and a dimmer switch. Also installed a heavy duty exhaust fan for the bathroom, replacing the much older one. I?m very satisfied with all repairs and did an excellent job cleaning up after. Will definitely be using them for future projects."

"Highly recommend this company. The owner called me on a Saturday afternoon to discuss my project after I submitted my request about an hour earlier on Angi. A technician, Carter, was onsite on Monday and was professional, courteous, and efficient. He serviced what I needed done, and the price was reasonable."

"Had Matt run new wire for a big addition and hook everything up. He was easy to work with, communicative, and fast. Very talented for a young guy. I was nervous about some potential complications but once we turned everything on, zero issues"

"Excellent experience. The electrician, Jay, arrived promptly, was very polite and professional, and answered all our questions fully. He installed two GFIs and two ceiling fans and was finished by lunch time. I was in the room while he installed the second fan, and we had a very good conversation as he worked. He was thoroughly knowledgeable and professional. We have some work to get done, and will be requesting him again. Highly recommend this company."

"My wife and I had Brett replace/upgrade our boxes, both inside and out, as well as run/install electric in two buildings. His work as impeccable, and his service afterwards was prompt and reliable. Brett and his crew were polite, professional, and appreciative of our business. We trusted them with complete access to our property, with zero restrictions. We were extremely pleased! On a personal note, Brett is an incredible young man, and has built his business from the ground up—starting at the age of sixteen. At his young age, he’s matured far beyond his years, and it shows. Tracy and I are VERY happy!"

"Very nice. He ran into a problem with my install for a doorbell and a missing part and would not give up until it was perfect. I will definitely call him back when I need electrical work"

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Natural gas and electricity rates vary significantly based on location, and pricing can change over time, too. It’s possible that in locations where natural gas is particularly inexpensive, it will cost less than grid-based electricity will. However, you should also factor in the generator’s initial costs and maintenance needs, as well as its noise level and if it can comfortably power all your home appliances.

Carbon monoxide emissions aren’t only dangerous to human life, but they also harm our planet. While natural gas generators emit lower levels of CO than other fuel sources, there are still ways to reduce emission levels. For example, shop around for an eco-friendly generator that complies with current emission standards. Also, make sure your generator is serviced regularly to avoid CO buildup.

The cost to install a whole-house generator averages $5,200, with a typical price range of $1,500 to $8,900. However, total costs can vary from $400 for a small portable unit to over $18,000 for a large-capacity system. The most significant cost factor is the generator's size and capacity, but other variables include the brand, fuel type, and labor for assembly and installation.

Generator costs can be broken down by type:

  • Portable or Emergency Backup Generators (1kW–7.5kW): $500 to $2,000

  • Partial-Home Generators (9kW–20kW): $2,000 to $6,500

  • Whole-House Generators (22kW–48kW): $5,000 to $18,000

To avoid paying for more power than you need, consider hiring an electrician to calculate the electrical load for your essential appliances. It is also recommended to get at least three quotes to find the best deal for your specific needs and budget.

In most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home generators. A permit for a generator usually costs between $50 and $250, depending on where you live. Your electrician or certified generator installer will usually pull the permit for you—and might be required to do so by your building department—but you’ll be on the hook for the cost of the permit. You should ask your installer before agreeing to any work if they will pull the necessary permits for your project.

While natural gas generators are costly, they’re a great option for standby power due to the reliability of natural gas as a fuel source. Unlike other fuels, natural gas is delivered through underground pipes, making outages extremely rare and less likely to be affected by the elements. As long as the area isn’t prone to earthquakes, they offer an unlimited supply of natural gas that doesn’t degrade over time or require storage in tanks.
