"Read reviews on Angies List and called him for the above jobs.  He came out Friday and gave me an estimate which included all parts (I had a new mailbox, but not the post or concrete ) and labor.  Said he would be here between 8-8:30 A. M  on Monday.  He arrived at 8:10 and installed a new fan motor in  my bathroom exhaust fan (saving me $88-the cost of a replacement fan).  Then his helper came and took out the old mailbox & dug the hole and set the post for the new one.  Then they were both on the roof repairing our gutter/downspouts.  They then came inside and removed my bannister railing.  He patched the holes while the other man installed the new mailbox.  They then drilled and positioned the bannister into the actual wall studs, added two new brackets, After the bannister was reattached he went to the store with a sample of the paint and came back and painted the patched holes in the stairwell.  We have a 160 year old house with plaster walls and 11 foot ceilings and repairs are seldom simple. There are 18 steep steps in the stairway so its a long railing.  Bob was great....they were cleaned up and gone by 12:30 or so.  Everything went smooth...they are clean, neat, and know what they are doing.  I would hire him again without hesitation,  In fact I plan to do just that when I have another short list of things to do."

"Alan and his company are consummate professionals - highly skilled, creative, dedicated, hard working, friendly and honest. They are a terrific choice for anyone considering remodeling or repairs. What I thought was a leak in the shower drain damaging the downstairs ceiling was discovered through Alan's thorough inspection to be the result of an exterior chimney issue leading to rainwater damaging the interior structures. Alan explained the problems, offered options and suggestions, and completed the full repair and remodel true to his estimate and promised completion time. This included repairing the 2 1/2 story chimney , all hidden damages, framing, drywall, subfloor and flooring, plumbing and electrical, ceiling repairs and painting, and installation of new shower, toilet, and vanity. "Bottom line: I'm using 40% less gas heating than before the insulation.
A & J gave me the best price. I was impressed with the thorough way in which Jerry put together the estimate.
I also qualified for a rebate from Columbia Gas. Jerry helped guide me with questions concerning the rebate process.
If your roof has wide eaves like I have, Jerry doesn't make holes in your walls that you will have to repair. He blows the insulation into the wall from above. They put a tube all the way down between the wall studs and begin filling and compacting from the bottom. This may not be possible in newer homes that were built with fire breaks in the walls.
Under the windows they did have to drill through the mortar in the brick wall to get a hose in, and the way they patch that up it isn't noticeable at all.
The crew are polite and friendly and hardworking.
I've monitored my energy usage via my programmable thermostat and I'm running the furnace 40% less than before the work that Jerry did.
I'm a happy camper. I can't say anything bad about A & J.

"The work was performed as planned. Each day the contractor showed up on time, worked diligently and consistently until the work was finished. The plaster work was complex, not only replacing a damaged ceiling, but re-plastering walls that have intricate wood trim and wainscoting. The completed work is of outstanding quality. Repainting the room required tons of detailed trim work around the dozen mullioned windows in the room. Again, the contractor proved highly skilled and professional and produced an outstanding finished product."
