"About two years ago, my husband and I purchased a home that was built in 1931 and neglected by the previous owner for the past 50 years. Needless to say, we are dealing with a variety of contractors on a regular basis. Of all the companies we have worked with, Superior Landscaping has proven to be the most reliable by far. Mark returned every call promptly and arrived at our house when he said he would - or early! This alone was a real treat compared to others. Mark is very knowledgeable and helpful. When it came time to pick out our new tree, he actually brought a tree book with him so I could see what the mature tree would look like. Everything was done exactly as outlined in his original proposal and completed very neatly and professionally. We hope to use Mark this spring for a complete redo of some very unattractive front yard landscaping."

"If you are reading this review looking for a lawn installation/repair service stop reading and call Costello. Kevin and his crew led by Justin came out when they said they would. The work done to the front and back yards included power raking, leveling, seeding, covering with peat moss and repairing bare spots. The work was done efficiently and professionally at a fair cost. They used quality seed, fertilizer, soil and peat. The crew worked together seamlessly. Heavy rains came through washing away some of the seed in the backyard. It wasn’t apparent until the grass started growing leaving bare spots. Kevin was called and he immediately made arrangements to reseed and in his words, “…make it right.” The front yard looks amazing. The backyard did too except for a few spots needing attention. Once again Kevin was called and once again he made it right. There aren’t many companies claiming great customer service, Costello is an exception relying on honesty and integrity. Kevin’s word and handshake is better than any contract. A great way to do business. The old fashioned way with exceptional work ethic. I would rehire and recommend Costello in a heartbeat. My neighbor was so impressed he hired them as well."

"Our original intent was to replace an old small deck with another larger one and maybe add a patio as well. We contacted Kevin Glasko at Turf World Co because we understood that his company could do both decks and patios. We weren't exactly sure what we wanted the deck and/or patio to look like and we had Kevin come to the house to look at the job site.. Kevin listened to what our thoughts were, showed us some pictures of projects he had done, and then came back to us in a few days with a plan drawing for a two level stamped concrete patio/deck with stairs and a benchwall with a walk leading to the front of the house.  He also put together a video showing what the walk and patio would look like as you walked from the front around to the back of the house... a great tool for us to see (virtually) how it would be. When we saw his plans and the video we knew it was exactly what we wanted.  The proposal was a bit more than we had planned to spend but the apparent quality and value of the project made it worth it. Once Kevin and his crew started our project the came every day to finish building it. They did not leave the deck or patio half finished in order to go to other jobs as contractors sometimes do and we really liked that.  The stamped concrete patio/deck were completed quickly and the crew on the job were always courteous and professional.  Once the main part of the job (patio/walk/deck) was finished the last step of the project was the grading/landscaping the yard around the patio. At this point mother nature stopped cooperating and we seemed to have constant rain that made the yard surrounding the patio turn to mud that could not be graded and planted. (Of course the concrete deck, patio, walk, etc was finished at this point so at least we could use that when it wasn't raining.) There was nothing that could be done about the grass and yard during this 'rain delay'. Kevin and his crew kept in touch to let us know they had not forgot about us and stopped by occasionally to see if the soil was dry enough to grade and plant grass seed.  Finally, the rains stopped and Kevin and the crew we able to finish the lawn part.  We are extremely pleased with the results. Our neighbors think it looks great too!
Kevin Glasko and his crew at Turf World Co were great. Always prompt, always professional, always courteous.

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it's common for lawns to look bare after dethatching. Dethatching brings soil to the surface to create a "bald" look on your lawn. While you may choose to patch or reseed your lawn if bare patches seem excessive, it's normal for a lawn to look bare after dethatching. With the layer of debris that was blocking water, nutrients, and air from reaching your grass now gone, your lawn is likely to grow better than ever.

Buffalo grass is not a dense grass, so weeds can grow between the buffalo grass plants. However, as long as you don’t overwater your lawn, weeds have a hard time growing. If you do notice weeds, you can use granular herbicides that are safe for buffalo grass in early and late summer.

There are several reasons your grass may be dying that could be in or out of your control. The most common issues include poor drainage, under/overwatering, poor soil pH, low soil nutrients, low sunlight, or too much foot traffic.

Yes, grass will regrow after forestry mulching, but the timeline depends on soil conditions, mulch thickness, and existing seed banks. The nutrient-rich mulch left behind helps retain moisture and improve soil health, encouraging regrowth. However, if the mulch layer is too thick, it may block sunlight and slow grass germination. For faster results, you can rake excess mulch, aerate the soil, and plant the new grass seeds.

Unfortunately, no. Grass seeds need a lot of moisture until they become sprouts, so this is an especially sensitive time. While they'll dry out if they get dehydrated, over-watering creates other problems. The grass seeds don't recover because they can just wash away or even rot, making for low germination rates. The ones that do germinate after being pushed under the soil may start to sprout only to die from lack of sunlight.
