"There is only one way to get to the deck we had replaced and that is through the house so it was important our contractor and workers were professional. Yury and his team were exceptionally easy to work with--not only skilled and dedicated to quality, but also polite, pleasant, punctual, and diligent. We could not ask for more and will call LTB again when we have another project."

"Project went smoothly and in timely fashion. Greg J. of Smileys handled it professionally and with urgency. Mailbox 4x4 post was broken off at the ground. Smileys removed the old post including old concrete and installed new in concrete and re-installed mailbox. Greg went above the call to complete by working with the responsible party covering cost of the damage.

"Scott Horrigan came to my house to address an electric light problem in my spare bedroom. He showed up on time, handled himself professionally, analyzed the issue, purchased the supplies needed to fix at Lowes, and resolved the issue timely. Would recommend to others for electrical needs. Cost was $150 for labor to remove and install new a light fixture and $75 trip charge to go to Lowes down the street and purchase supplies (I purchased supplies over the phone)."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Our second bathroom had to be completely renovated. An ugly bathtub had to be removed to accommodate a walk-in shower. Our renovation couldn’t have gone any better! Our new bathroom is stunning. Village Craftworks came highly recommend from a friend. All the attention to detail throughout the project is what we really appreciate. Antonio listened to our ideas and treated us with kindness and respect. At the end of each workday the work area was left impeccable clean. This was so important to us! We have since used him again to do some tile work around our fireplace. If you want true craftsmanship, call Antonio"

"Trish and Justin did an amazing job on our bathroom! I'm beyond thrilled with the hard work they put it! We lost our trailer we had bought 3 yrs ago to a freak electrical fire that took EVERYTHING from us. The only thing we could afford was another trailer that was also in desperate need of repairs. I was forced to put off those repairs due to financial difficulties until this year. This year my bathroom really started falling apart and had to be repaired. A leak had burst through the wall for our shower. Which in turn absolutely ruined the flooring and was causing it to fall through (so bad by the toilet we couldn't even use it anymore). Trish and Justin made my embarrassingly awful bathroom look brand new again! The work they did is absolutely amazing! She also fixed my washing machine! I'm so happy with their work that they're now working on a roofing estimate for me. Thank you Trish and Justin!!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, there are regulations on using wood stoves, particularly concerning emissions and installation standards. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets emission limits for wood stoves to ensure they burn cleaner and more efficiently. Additionally, local building codes may have specific requirements for installation and venting, so it's essential to check with local authorities before installing or upgrading your stove.

Lightning can cause massive damage, fires, and openings for other threats like bugs or fungal diseases. Barring any large fires or explosions, it’s difficult to tell how much damage a lightning strike has done until after a thorough inspection. Contact local authorities immediately if lightning strikes a tree in your yard and it causes a fire or explosion.

First, it is crucial to check your local guidelines or building codes. You should typically have one smoke detector for every floor, bedroom, and kitchen. Another rule of thumb is to install one smoke detector for every 500 feet in a home. Reviewing manufacturing recommendations, especially for interconnected devices, is also a good idea to ensure proper connection and monitoring.

Yes, it’s worth capping a chimney. Here are several reasons to install a chimney cap:

  • Keep out rain, snow, wildlife, and other debris

  • Help prevent chimney fires

  • Reduce your chimney’s exposure to moisture

  • Maintain your chimney flue liner

  • Help reduce energy bills by helping regulate your home’s temperature

You can fireproof an existing door to some extent, but it's better to remove the old door and replace it with a fire-rated model. Anything dealing with extreme heat needs rigorous testing and a door you DIY fireproof will not undergo the same safety measures as a premade one. Consider a door with a rating of at least 30 minutes or more in residential areas.
