"I highly recommend Drywall Medics to anyone who is in need of drywall work on an old home or brand new home. I am a local Realtor in in Marysville and throughout the counties, and I have personally used Drywall Medics. I removed the 1960's paneling and found it was glued and heavily nailed to the drywall and was not salvageable. Dry Wall medics came in and installed new drywall and you would think the home was just built in 2021 with how seamless it looks. Professional crew with amazing results. Also, as a Realtor when a company performs exceptionally for me, I recommend them to my clients who are looking to buy/sell, and they are always there in a pinch to get last minutes fixes completed for my clients. 100% recommend reaching out for any and all remodeling or drywall repairs."

"Lou with Buckeye Wildlife was professional and very personable. We had the company out to clean out an attic in a 1959 home. The attic had been used for storage over the years and had old insulation that needed to be removed. Lou and his team removed all the trash and the old insulation. The attic is now "spotless" and ready for new insulation. I would highly recommend this company. They were thorough, and the price was very reasonable for the amount of work they did."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

While a normal moisture level for drywall is between 5% and 12%, replacement is recommended if you get consistent readings above 17%. At this level, the drywall is likely too compromised by extensive moisture damage to be considered safe. You can replace either the entire sheet or just the affected section. If you are unsure after a visual inspection, it is best to have a contractor or water restoration provider use a professional moisture meter to get an accurate reading.

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.

Some textures are easier than others to DIY, but the short answer is yes, you can absolutely texture walls yourself. You’ll need certain materials, like a trowel or paint sprayer, but the most important things you’ll need are patience and time. DIYing wall texture can save money and be a fun, messy project, but homeowners need to know that adding texture to a wall isn’t a quick project.

There are six levels of drywall finish, from 0 to 5, that refer to the amount of work performed during the finishing process.

Level 0: Drywall is hung with no finishing work.

Level 1: Tape is placed over the seams between drywall sheets.

Level 2: A thin layer of mud is applied over the tape and screw holes. This level is common for utility rooms or walls that will be covered.

Level 3: A full coat of mud covers the screw holes and tape, but the surface is not sanded. This is often used in garages.

Level 4: This is the most common finish for visible interior walls. It involves applying two coats of mud over seams and screw holes, with sanding between each coat, creating a smooth surface ready for flat paint.

Level 5: This is a high-end finish for luxury homes. It includes full taping, mudding, and sanding, plus a final skim coat over the entire surface before painting.

Drywall can get wet and dry out without sustaining permanent damage, but only if the water damage is minor. If you have a small leak and are quick to correct the issue and set up blower fans and dehumidifiers, your drywall should dry out. If the leak is persistent, the drywall becomes totally waterlogged, or mold begins forming on the drywall, you should remove and replace it.
