"This company is a joke. Steve is a snake oil salesman who pressured us into a $10k job. He came out and misdiagnosed the problem resulting in him switch the plans several times. When it came time to get the work done, my brother and I had to finish the job. If your job is to take water from the foundation how is exterior work not included in the quote. Furthermore, Steve has ZERO man management and LIMITED knowledge of his field. His crews have no idea what they're doing, and his front office is a joke. I had to explain to them that they do indeed make male pipe fittings despite Steve and his associates persistence that they don't. If it's a choice of having water in your house or working with these jokers l'd recommend just letting the house fill with water. Pathetic, unprofessional, and a waste of time and money. Most well pump pressure switches have a factory setting of 30 to 50 PSI. There’s some flexibility with this if you’d like a lower or higher water pressure, but remember that it should sit 2 to 3 PSI above your well tank’s general pressure setting.

The inside of your pressure switch cover will usually indicate minimum and maximum settings—going below and above the numbers might damage your well pump.

Ideally, you should conduct a mechanical inspection and a bacterial or well water inspection yearly. While you might be able to push it off to every other year, it’s best to have peace of mind, especially when it comes to something that you use so frequently. 

If you experience repeated gastrointestinal illness in the household, it's important to test the well water more regularly for quality and cleanliness to check for bacteria.

If your well pump gets stuck in its casing, you may be able to free it loose by gently wiggling the line or by vibrations from tapping the line with a hammer. However, if your pump is stuck in a buildup of minerals around the casing, you’ll probably have to call in a well pump contractor to get it out. They’ll likely use a muriatic acid solution—a strong, corrosive acid—to break down the minerals and free the pump loose. 

To avoid a stuck pump in the future, experts recommend a professional well cleaning once every 10 years. 

For the most part, choosing between 30/50 psi and 40/60 psi is based on your water-pressure preference. However, it can also depend a little bit on your house—if you have older plumbing, a lower water pressure can be easier on the pipes (and a bit more gentle on your well pump). 

The lower 30/50 pressure is usually enough for a single-story home, but you may want 40/60 if you have multiple stories, as the extra pressure helps water flow smoothly up to the second floor.
