Customers say: True professional

"I have a 126 year old house, and we had a leak in our upstairs bathroom that was fixed by a plumber. Chris and Jessica came to do the patches in the ceiling and drywall for us. They were so professional, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. I already have a few more projects that I will be requesting their help on! Definitely recommend!"

"We had a bathroom exhaust fan installed. James was very friendly he did a great job. He had to crawl through our low attic all the way to the farthest end of the house to run the vent through the roof. I'm sure that was not fun. James cleaned up after the job."

"We were confident from the very beginning that Frank would accomplish all that was needed, including removal of the tub, to install our walk-in shower and various safety features. He and Steve were always very pleasant and kept us informed as to when they would arrive. He was very helpful with the design as well. Wouldn't hesitate to call on him again if needed."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. If you are ever ensure, consult with a licensed professional to get their insight on best practices and whether the installation is a safe one.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

For a 12x12 room, a fan between 36" and 50" will work, as it falls in the range for spaces up to 144 square feet. These size fans provide adequate air circulation and ensure a comfortable environment without being overpowering. Even better, they come in a broad range of styles, offering aesthetics and functionality, making them suitable choices for maintaining an ideal room temperature and enhancing overall comfort.
