"Robert arrived right on time to complete the job. He was very professional and provided a lot of great information for a first-time wood burning fireplace owner. Very courteous, considerate and clean. The inspection and cleaning took about an hour. I plan on using QPS each time I need any work done on my chimney."

"Had to get the chimney cleaned from years of the top cap being blown off and broken. Don't think anything was cleaned since the house was built but I don't use the fireplace. Anyways, Myke is very polite and fair with pricing and service. His wife is the receptionist and is exceptionally nice to work with and flexible for appointments. Myke ended up cleaning out a bunch of dead animals which fell in when the cap was off and also cleaned out a bunch of other junk from the environment. He laid down a huge quilt before even opening the fireplace and made sure he had cleaning stuff and a bucket handy at all times to catch debris and critters. Very good cleanup job where you wouldn't even know someone was over. Overall my fireplace was not in bad shape, but Myke did make some recommendations for external repairs for the condo association repair people which helped to greatly reduce the rain drippings I would normally hear in the fireplace. Fantastic business and genuinely helps with getting best value for dollar."

"The workers and office staff were easy to talk to, well informed, courteous , and efficient. They performed a thorough inspection. Recommended and installed a stainless liner and cap for the furnace flue and a new damper on the fireplace flue. Their price was better than previous quotes and even set up a partial payment plan. I am very pleased with the work they did."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

The local climate plays a major role in fireplace service success. Akron experiences intense freeze-thaw cycles and heavy lake-effect moisture, which accelerate mortar deterioration and flue cracking. Additionally, shifting clay soils impact chimney foundations. Since many homes feature older masonry, a sound flue liner is critical for long-lasting results. Always hire a certified professional to ensure your project meets current structural and safety codes.

Helpful?

A major mistake during fireplace service is delaying repairs until spring. Winter weather rapidly worsens minor cracks into structural failures. Homeowners also err by applying waterproofing sealants over damaged mortar, which traps moisture inside the masonry. Additionally, skipping required permits or ignoring annual inspections for gas fireplaces creates serious safety hazards. Always burn seasoned wood to prevent rapid creosote buildup in your Akron home.

Helpful?

You should combine gas log service with your annual furnace inspection. Many local technicians service both systems, making a single visit highly efficient. If your system vents through a masonry chimney, schedule a chimney sweep at the same time to address aging liners. Bundling these projects in early fall helps you avoid the pre-winter rush in Akron. You should also check with your local utility for active energy efficiency rebates.

Helpful?

Schedule gas log service in late summer or early fall before the Akron heating season begins. Over the spring and summer, unused logs accumulate dust, spider webs, and moisture. High humidity in OH also damages burner components during the off-season. A local professional will inspect your system to ensure everything functions safely. Always contact your local utility provider immediately if you smell gas or notice unusual pilot light outages.

Helpful?

Start by scheduling a thorough chimney inspection before booking gas log service. Many older homes in Akron feature aging masonry chimneys with deteriorated liners. You must also verify that your system meets current OH building codes for vented or vent-free appliances. Install functioning carbon monoxide detectors before operating your fireplace to ensure your home stays safe. Finally, have a certified specialist confirm that your gas supply lines are completely leak-free.
