"Floor Coverings International-Cleveland installed our floors any we couldn't be happier! I am impressed at how well they all worked together! These are very professional, kind and caring people.no high pressure sales. We enjoyed our experience with them from sale to install. The installers left everything neat and clean when they left each day. I just can't say enough about them. If you are choosing between a big box store and them like we were, choose Floor Coverings International, you will not regret it!"

"I worked with Mark Taus a flooring specialist. He was well prepared and helped me choose the right floor for my needs. He even made sure I received the best deal possible. The floors aren’t complete yet but so far I’m impressed."

"He was very professional and does excellent work. I had a floor repair and before I could go and pick up supplies for the repair they had already repaired the floor before I returned. They removed the old carpet, repaired the floor, moved the furniture, installed new carpet and cleaned up before moving on to the next room. When I saw them vacuuming the first room before starting on the second room I knew I would forever use this company for all future carpet installations. The added plus was that they were inexpensive too! Thanks again"

"He does beautiful work! I had my living room hardwood floor repaired and refinished. My house was built in 1962 so the floor was very scarred up. He made it look absolutely beautiful. There was a hole cut in the floor that he repaired and it blends beautifully. The equipment he used created very little mess. I will definitely use him again!"

Customers say: Quick response

"I am so impressed with their work! We had some hideous pre finished floors in the house we bought. Once they started the job, the floor weren't sanding like they expected. They had to do a lot more work to get the floors back in decent shape and applied a clear coat and varnish. Yheu honored the quoted price and worked so hard to do it right, even though it added a couple days to the job. I love how the floors turned out! I wouldn't trust anyone else to refinish hardwood floors. These guys are pros."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Akron should consider basement moisture issues, which often require a moisture barrier beneath new flooring. Subfloor leveling is common in older homes due to settling. Some neighborhoods have historic district or HOA guidelines that may restrict flooring materials or colors. For homes built before 1978, it’s important to address possible asbestos or lead paint. Material delivery times may also be longer during Akron’s busy spring and summer renovation seasons.

Helpful?

Upgrading flooring in Akron typically enhances both home value and buyer appeal. Consistent, high-quality flooring—especially hardwood or luxury vinyl—can help your property stand out in the local market. Buyers in Akron often look for durable, low-maintenance options that handle seasonal changes. Well-installed flooring throughout main living spaces can shorten time on the market and make your home more attractive to potential buyers.

Helpful?

In Akron, flooring maintenance involves frequent cleaning of entryways to combat winter salt and moisture, along with using protective mats to minimize wear. Maintaining steady indoor humidity helps prevent wood floor expansion and contraction during seasonal changes. Hardwood floors often need refinishing every 7-10 years, while tile and grout benefit from resealing every 1-2 years. Regular deep cleaning is essential for carpets, especially after snowy or rainy periods.

Helpful?

When reviewing flooring installation quotes in Akron, be cautious of vague estimates that don’t address subfloor leveling or moisture control, especially in older homes. Quotes that skip site inspections or ignore the impact of winter weather on scheduling are concerning. Reliable flooring contractors should discuss potential asbestos or lead paint in pre-1978 homes and provide local references to verify their experience with Akron’s unique housing stock.

Helpful?

For Akron’s climate, engineered hardwood is ideal for its resistance to humidity swings and suitability for basements when paired with a moisture barrier. Luxury vinyl plank is a strong choice for high-moisture areas and can handle temperature fluctuations. Ceramic or porcelain tile works well in entryways and bathrooms. Avoid solid hardwood in basements, and be cautious with laminate, as salt and moisture from Akron winters can cause damage.
