"On Thursday, the technician (David) came to my house to look at two projects: replacing a leaking electric water heater, and installing a new gas line (in my crawlspace) to my masonry fireplace so I can convert from wood to gas logs. He explained my options, and quoted prices for these options. I asked if he could do the work on the upcoming Saturday, and he scheduled this before he left! I ordered the gas tankless water heater and the gas line to my fireplace. By the way, I had 3 different plumbers look at this work, WyattWorks had the lowest prices. On Saturday David and Alex arrived early in the morning and worked past 6:30 PM to complete both jobs. The installations were great. Everything to code, and with neat, high quality workmanship and thoroughly tested. They cleaned up the work areas and hauled away my old water heater. In other words, a typical WyattWorks job."

"It was fantastic. The repair was inexpensive and I know what I need to do to prepare for the future given that my laundry-room plumbing is wearing out. The plumber was very informative, professional and friendly, and for the first time in my life of dealing with plumbers, he did not talk down to me because I was a woman. Not one bit. Conversed with me like the educated customer and DYI home repair/improvement person that I am. I will definitely use this company/plumber again!"

"I give Brian a 5 on doing the job, and a 1 on responsiveness - so a 3 average rating. Brian is an excellent plumber, he has done several jobs for me and I would use him again. However, Brian is horrible on responding to texts, phone calls and emails. It is extremely hard to get a hold of him and, he hasn?t shown up for scheduled appointments with no notice or reason given. Very frustrating to communicate with him. But, if your lucky enough to get his attention - he does excellent work."

Small jobs welcome

"Clogged Kitchen Drain and Gas Shut-off Valve: Terry the Plumber is Honest - they don't try to sell you services you don't need. A prior plumbing company told me my main sewer line was collapsing, hoping I'd hire them to replace the main line for thousands of dollars. Terry the Plumber checked it out and said it wasn't collapsing. Pays to have a second opinion. The kitchen line, with an old galvanized drain was rotting and clogged with grease from 75 years of use (it was the original.) They replaced drain with a PVC pipe, installed a handy clean out and completely snaked the rest of the drain in the floor out to 45 feet (the other company only used a 22 foot snake.) They also returned the next afternoon to replace a corroded and frozen gas shut off that I needed done. Took them less than 15 minutes. Terry and his assistant work quickly and don't waste time. Terry has several decades of experience and it shows. I will definitely hire them again for other plumbing projects. The only real complaint I have isn't with Terry the Plumber, but their answering service (Plumbing Services). Called after hours to check time when Terry would be arriving. It was holding over two minutes with no one picking up, so I hung up. Oddly, Terry showed up just 5 minutes later. LOL! Terry the Plumber is great! Prices are reasonable, too."

"This family owned business is AMAZING!! They worked until the job was done correctly without overcharging us. They were professional, intelligent, and had our water flowing and toilets flushing after a long, grueling day and a half of work. Wonderful job!!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

In Akron, you can find full-service plumbing companies that handle a wide range of issues, as well as specialists focusing only on sewer and drain cleaning. For rural properties, septic service companies are available. Some contractors specialize in 24/7 emergency services, while others focus on diagnostics using camera inspections. All plumbing contractors working in OH must be properly licensed for your protection and peace of mind.

Helpful?

In Akron, most plumbing work—such as water heater replacement, major pipe alterations, or bathroom remodels—requires a permit from the Akron Building Department. Projects must comply with the Ohio Plumbing Code, and both rough-in and final inspections are mandatory. Always verify permit requirements with the Akron Building Department before starting, as following local regulations ensures your plumbing project is safe and code-compliant.

Helpful?

When evaluating plumbing quotes in Akron, be cautious of contractors who lack Akron Building Department registration, refuse to provide written estimates, or avoid mentioning compliance with the Ohio Plumbing Code. Unusually low bids, requests for full payment upfront, or missing proof of insurance are warning signs. Always verify credentials and ask about local permit and inspection processes to ensure you hire a reputable Akron plumber.

Helpful?

Slow drains, gurgling sounds, and recurring clogs typically signal a need for drain cleaning. However, if you see sinkholes in your yard, foundation cracks, or visible pipe corrosion, a more extensive repair is likely necessary. In older Akron homes with clay pipes, deterioration might mean replacement is a better solution than cleaning, especially if root intrusion from mature trees is the underlying cause.

Helpful?

For plumbing work in Akron, copper and PEX are preferred for supply lines due to their durability and resistance to freezing, which is important in Ohio's climate. PVC is commonly used for new drain installations, while older Akron homes may have cast iron or ABS. Sourcing materials from local supply houses recommended by the Akron Building Department helps ensure compliance with city codes and reliable performance.
