"I give Brian a 5 on doing the job, and a 1 on responsiveness - so a 3 average rating. Brian is an excellent plumber, he has done several jobs for me and I would use him again. However, Brian is horrible on responding to texts, phone calls and emails. It is extremely hard to get a hold of him and, he hasn?t shown up for scheduled appointments with no notice or reason given. Very frustrating to communicate with him. But, if your lucky enough to get his attention - he does excellent work."

"Tri-County Electric Services was able to send a plumber out the next day to provide estimates for a few projects in my home. Chris M. arrived at my home and was professional, knowledgable, straight forward, and friendly. He quoted me fair prices to install a new toilet and new kitchen faucet, both of which I had previously purchased independently and had at home ready to install. I was very happy that he was able to complete the installs that day. He also fixed a minor leak below a bathroom sink. All around a great experience! I will definitely hire them again for future plumbing needs. Chris explained that the company recently added a plumbing division to complement their electric services. Thank you for a job well done!"

"Our 2nd time using Mackin & Son's Plumbing, and it couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. First, we had a conversation regarding the work that needed to be done; then, a couple of weeks later, when we were ready for plumbers, they were here when they said they would be here and finished the work as was prescribed. Uneventful, how I like it."

"Danny and Anna - Fantastic!!! Professional, personable. Answered all my questions instantly. They both were accommodating and very sweet with my toddler and dog around. Anna introduced me to an app that I can get an affordable ventilation system, which I really need to prevent mold in the shower. A surprising element: instead of recommending 3 different commercial cleaners, she recommended Vinegar and Water - a common and affordable cleaning option! Danny went above and beyond, looking at the other bathroom and giving me insights I requested- even though that wasn't why he was there. Honestly, the whole time they were working it felt more like a friend who was doing me a solid than someone we were paying to do a job. I didn't have to clean a single thing after they left, it was Showroom ready! A small thing, but big to me, Danny put up command hooks for me so our loofas don't have to sit on the floor anymore. Overall, 5/5 stars!"

"Harrison was very personable, We hired him when my Husband, could not open a clogged kitchen sink, turned out to be a grease build up in the line. He worked for 2 hours on Sunday, no luck Monday morning he was on time again ð Cleaned up everything after, Informed us what he was going to do, and used a camera to show us, plumbers are expensive but I feel it was fair price"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

You can stop a leak with plumber’s tape, but it’s not a recommended way to repair a leak. To install it, you have to dismantle the plumbing connection, apply plumber’s tape, and then re-install the pieces.

There are better options for a temporary fix for leaking pipes, such as repair sleeves, epoxy compounds, or pipe clamps.

If you've discovered a rather frightening buildup of brown and black gunk below your shower cover, you're not alone. The smelly sludge is often a collection of mildew and biofilm. Biofilm comes from the breakdown of soap scum, hair, skin cells, and bacteria that collects during shower time. It's quite common in a humid space and relatively easy to clean with a gentle DIY cleaning solution such as baking soda and vinegar.

There are a few reasons why this could be the case. More than likely, your flapper is worn out and needs to be replaced. When it’s worn out, it lowers the water pressure during each flush leading to inefficient flushing. Luckily, replacing a toilet flapper is a simple repair that should only take about 30 minutes.

Yes, you can have a toilet without a septic tank. However, it will have to be a composting toilet. Composting toilets work similarly to aerobic septic systems in that the waste, which sits in a separate compartment below the toilet itself, is slowly broken down by aerobic bacteria. These toilets typically have a vent to get rid of harmful gasses with a fan, which requires a battery. You will have to dispose of waste in the toilet manually every three weeks to every three months, depending on how many people are using the toilet.

It is generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage for a short time, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. While the level of sewer gas is usually low enough to only cause minor symptoms, prolonged inhalation can lead to headaches, nausea, or respiratory irritation. High levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous, and high concentrations of methane—a component of sewer gas—can pose an explosion risk in enclosed spaces. If you smell sewer gas in your home, ventilate the area and call a professional to locate, assess, and fix the problem, as it will not go away on its own.
