"I highly recommend this company for reupholstering chairs. Their prices are reasonable and their work is excellent. They even respond to your texts, emails or phone calls very quickly. They recommended websites of companies they use where you can browse hundreds of photos of upholstery fabric-- sites you wouldn't know about. Since they were able to take away just the seats of my chairs there was no pick up or delivery charge. I would definitely use them again. Regarding cost: I chose fabric that cost a total of $200 + $90/chair."

"Sviat couldn't have provided a better experience from beginning to end creating a custom piece for my tiny apt: 1. Quality of workmanship was suburb, 2. Communication was SO EASY via text/pics/calls as needed all through the process. Sviat is very responsive, and working together along the project was very efficient & convenient - ideal for busy ppl, 3. Delivery/payment was a breeze. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for high-quality woodworking."

"Me and my wife as a first time homeowner, we did purchase a house upstate. We knew it needed lots of work to remodel to match our perfect home idea. We did meet with a few contractors and MX Remodeling company was one of them. After checking the reviews online we decided to meet. Mark (the owner) came to meet with us at our new place. What was different about him, is that he took the time to listen first about the ideas and the needs me and my wife had in mind, he took our idea and did bring it to another level without increasing our budget much. Very detailed, amazing work, great follow up through the work and after, always contacting, always explaining, always making sure we were super happy with the work that was being performed. After talking to different contractors, we knew he was the one from the beginning. It has been 7 month since we finished the first project, didnâ t want to rush putting this review out there since I wasnâ t sure if the company will just disappear after the job is done like most of them do, I will always use him and his company in the future for any needs, I will always make sure my friends and family use only MX Remodeling. This company and the team that represents MX Remodeling are the best."

"Mrs. and Mr. Construction completed deck maintenance, installed a vanity, caulked the shower area, and renovated the kitchen tile floor. The results were very satisfactory and met professional standards. They provided proposals detailing the required tasks and adjusted the final proposal according to budget constraints. They attended all appointments punctually and worked outside regular hours when necessary. Professional advice was given regarding additional property work. Further tasks such as wood floor renovation, backyard fence installation, and other projects are planned to be assigned to them. They are recommended for similar work. Very courteous client service."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.

If you don’t have a coping saw, you can use an angle grinder to cope crown molding, but it takes a little more precision. Place your molding down on your workbench, angle the grinder at a 45-degree angle toward the molding, and back cut the wood. You’ll need to carefully angle your grinder to accommodate the curves in the wood, and aim to remove around 1 inch from the profile of the molding.

Rustic and modern farmhouse styles are currently the most popular. These include rustic and antique furniture, muted colors, clean lines, eclectic decor, and natural materials. Some other popular farmhouse styles include the following:

  • Coastal farmhouse: Creates a lighter, airier feel with soft colors and blue palettes, along with gold

  • Colonial farmhouse: Focuses on real antique furniture and decor

  • French farmhouse: Leans on French country architecture and design by including marble and lighter-colored metals, like zinc

  • Industrial farmhouse: Includes thick, chunky furniture and dark metals

  • Scandinavian farmhouse: Usually includes lighter wood colors and more refined furniture

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.

It is not recommended to cut or drill into LVL (laminated veneer lumber) beams. As major structural components of a home, their composite structure can be compromised by alterations, which can weaken them and lead to cracking over time. If you must make modifications to an LVL beam, it is crucial to consult a structural engineer or general contractor first. A professional can advise on whether it's safe and provide specifics on the appropriate bit size, depth, and directionality for any necessary drilling.
