COMPANY OVERVIEW USA Insulation is a national franchise that specializes in premium wall insulation that’s eco-friendly and ideal for retrofit applications. The company has insulated more than 90,000 homes nationwide. Established in 1977 and incorporated in 1985, USA Insulation has saved thousands of customers millions of dollars on their heating and air conditioning bills. The company is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio with locations across the country. For your home to be comfortable, it needs efficient insulation in the attic, walls and floors. Not just a good HVAC system and effective windows. When these work as a system, your home will stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. USA Premium Foam is a unique foam-in-place insulation that performs better than other retrofit insulation. The insulation is eco-friendly and the durable material works in any type of home. USA Premium Foam insulation makes installation a breeze, and the one-step retrofit process ensures your home’s thermal envelope is tightly sealed. The benefits of USA Premium Injection Foam Insulation include: • Better home comfort • Energy savings • Lower utility bills • Outperforms other retrofit insulation • Is environmentally friendly • Installs in any type of home • American-made

"I had my walls done in 2024. I ended up removing one wall for a remodel and found the wall had limited insulation from USA Insulation. I called them and they came out and look at it and did a thermal image. They said that a wire mess in the one room caused the wall to not be filled. They should have known there was an issue. I questioned the rest of the house and they said the thermal image showed no heat loss. I doubted them and they said they could drill holes in every room. I drilled three holes on the outside of my living room. One showed insulation but did not fill the cavity. The other two did not show any insulation that the thermal image did not catch. They offered me $250 for the one room. They have not responded to 2 emails and 2 phone calls after I found issues in the living room. They said they would make it right and told the BBB they would make it right and I have not heard from them for 3 months."

"We contracted Southside Builders to finish our basement, and we could not have been more pleased with our experience. Neal is very professional, responds quickly, and delivers quality work. He let us know everyday when to expect him and always showed up on time. We were told at the start of our project that our basement would take 4-6 weeks to complete and it was completed within that time frame (which never happens!). We will definitely use Southside Builders for our future projects and highly recommend them to our friends and neighbors."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Unfaced wall insulation is easier to cut and install, making it the better choice for a DIY project. It’s also more affordable. But if it’s unfaced, you’ll likely need to add a vapor barrier to reach your desired R-value and efficiency, as it doesn’t offer any moisture barrier.

Faced insulation uses paper or foil to create a built-in barrier and doesn’t require an extra step. It’s also more fire-resistant and safe. But it’s quite a bit more expensive and a little bit harder to work with as a DIYer.

Yes. Proper, complete insulation will ensure that you trap the most cool or warm air inside your home, preventing high energy bills. In addition, insulation tends to settle and compress, leaving gaps over time; the more you insulate completely during the initial installation, the less you’ll need to do down the line.

Hanging a thick blanket over your windows will help to keep the heat inside, but only a little. Covering the glass will also prevent the sunlight from getting in, which might actually decrease the efficiency of your window overall. If you get to the point where you’re hanging blankets over your window to keep warm, call in an expert to seal around your windows to prevent warm air from escaping. They may also recommend replacing old windows that aren’t as insulative as newer window technology. Sealing a window isn’t terribly expensive and can make a big difference.

Most insulation lasts 15 to 20 years, but it really depends on the type of insulation. Spray foam is a permanent insulation material that can last up to 100 years. Fiberglass and cellulose typically settle, shift, or deteriorate around 15 years. Once your insulation reaches the 15-year mark, it's time to check it for signs of needing to be replaced.

R-30 insulation is better for higher thermal resistance, but whether it’s "better" depends on the application. R-30 is much thicker and suited for areas like attics or floors in cold climates, where more insulation is required. R-13, on the other hand, is thinner and works well for 2x4 walls or milder climates where less insulation is sufficient. Choosing between R-13 and R-30 depends on the area being insulated and the climate. For example, R-30 provides more insulation but may not fit everywhere in your home.
