"I used to have sporadic flooding at the front and rear of my townhouse. P&A cleared and upgraded my garage trench drain, installed a sump pump in the garage, and another sump pump at the backyard entrance. Everything looked great but the real test came when we recently had heavy rains. After a full day and a half of storms my neighbor's basement flooded but mine was bone dry. The best part is I could just relax and not worry about bailing water out of my house anymore."

"Lazar responded quickly and came out to my home showed me the damaged sewage pipe via camera. He advised me to record while he was checking. I heard from him later that night with a detailed estimate. Work began a few days later, Lazar and his crew (2) completed this extensive job in two days. My neighbors had the same job and the excavation took four days. He is the best!"

"They were great about returning calls and called when they realized they were to be late. It appears they unclogged 3 drains and replaced pipes underneath. My only complaint was that they left the floor in work areas a bit wet. Overall great job. happy that they were able to get the job done only 1 day after I called."

"Egli Plumbing responded to the plumbing job. The initial down payment was reasonable towards the overall cost of the job. Two persons came and both worked on a segment of the task/s. They were punctual, well prepared and completed the water and sewer stack as required. They cleaned up after the job and removed the old piping. I was satisfied in choosing them."

"ENO Plumbing came in and worked until they finished the job , all within a day! Our storm drain was backing up and water would just sit there and next door neighbor always complaining! They were professional. They explained everything that needed to be done including digging further down and replacing drain. They had to cut out the cement to the downspout and then recement! It has since rained and no problems!"

"JRS Maintenance, Jimmy Ryan, and his helper just fixed two of our plumbing problems - a corroded pipe under the kitchen sink that leaked down through the floorboards to the basement, and a leaking radiator valve. They did a great job. He came right away on a Tuesday to look at the problem. I especially appreciate that he was thorough in his inspection and his detailed explanation of what was likely causing the problems, considering that the leak point was behind the cabinet wall and not visible. He prepared us for other eventualities. It turns out that his assessment of the problem was spot-on. The work he did is high quality, and his price is reasonable. He clearly knows his trade. This was the first time he did work for us, and we feel now we know a plumber we can trust and will definitely call him the next time we have a problem. Thank you!"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

With a one-way cleanout, you can access your sewer line from one direction. Depending on the way it curves, a plumber can either access the side of the pipe that goes into your home or the side that goes to your yard. On the other hand, two-way cleanouts allow pros to access both sides of the sewer line, thanks to their dual-pipe design (they’re usually U-shaped).

If you drop jewelry down your sink, it can cause a clog, especially if it accumulates other debris on its way down. However, that is the least of your worries if you drop your favorite jewelry down your drain. If your gold band goes tumbling down the sink drain, don’t panic—refrain from running more water down the sink, and follow the steps above.

Although linear drains allow water to flow quickly and efficiently, they tend to clog more easily than traditional drains. Linear drains are flush with the shower floor, allowing soap scum and hair to potentially build up. They’re also longer than other drains, allowing for more space to let debris fall into the drainpipe.

Common causes include hair buildup, soap residue, food particles, and foreign objects. Older pipes can also contribute by facilitating buildup more easily.

A clogged sewer line is not typically covered by homeowner’s insurance, though some sewer line issues are covered. For instance, damage related to a fallen tree is usually covered. Though sewer line replacement is not covered in a standard insurance policy, some companies offer add-ons for this purpose. Read the fine print before spending your own money.
