"I had a rather specific and somewhat specialized need for a backyard concrete patio. The project called for a roughly 14x16 ft slab, of 4" thick with wire mesh concrete - and most importantly the entire patio needed to be pitched toward a centered drywell, for proper drainage. For added trickiness, the backyard had no street access, other than through the house, so the concrete needed to be pumped in (which could get messy). I interviewed three contractors and found JGJ Home Improvement Corp. to be the best overall fit. They came in priced right and fully understood what I needed - without the typical (for whatever reason) inflated ego.  Luis started - THE NEXT DAY - and got the job done the same day, to exact specifications.  His team was professional, skilled and clean - and they thoroughly cleaned up after the job.  And most brilliant is that they hit the perfect pitch - The patio drains like a dream!... Beautiful.  Again, for me, it was essential that the contractor listened, understood and could act promptly, with a high degree of confidence and within my budget. "In looking for a reputable Electrician, a friend referred me to Home Advisor. Within 5 minutes of signing up, I received a call from Brian Duffy, the owner of Duffy Electric. I explained the scope of my work, Brian asked a few questions and then advised me of his consultation/ assessment fee and if I used his company that fee was waived ( standard in the industry) Electrical work is competively priced on Long Island and I have neither the time or patience to spend a lot of time " shopping" prices. I needed a Master Electrician asap as my project had moved along much faster than I anticipated. As i was on the phone eith Duffy I was reading reviews on his company on both HA and Yelp. All 4 stars and up. I hired him on the phone. Within 30 min I had a confirmation email and we were set for 10am the next morning. Michael the Electrician showed up right on time and was friendly, respectful and listened to me as I explained the job and showed him around. Being a single middled aged woman , who worked in construction mgt for many years, these were the qualities I look for. Michael worked tirelessly thruout a very hot humid day. He also had to work around my landscape team as they all were in the same physical space. Not an easy feat, but Michael was a perfect fit. At the end of the day, he flipped a switch and my brand new backyard garden came to life. Lighting, a fountain ,and outlets. All beautifully done. His work was neat, clean and meticulous. And he never stopped smiling. Having strangers in and out of your home all day can be nervewracking to say the least. Michael made this big job very easy for me. I couldn't be happier. I would recommend Duffy in a NY minute. He is neither the highest priced guy out there or the cheapest. When it comes to electrical work do you really want the cheapest?
