"After my reliable plow service decided to close their winter business this year, I was desperate to find a plow service for the 2025-2026 winter season. I had called several plow services, but they were unable to take on my property. I turned to Angi’s, to help in my search. The only name that Angi’s provided was Andrew’s Lawn and Snow. Their website looked very professional and I was intrigued that they claimed to use snow blowers, instead of traditional truck plows. I filled out the request Angi’s service provided me, for a call back. Andrew’s called me while at work and seemed to be a reputable company, and while very expensive, I was desperate, and decided to agree to their services. I paid $3504.65for 2” of snow removal, that included my driveway and walkway. I never saw or signed a contract. They took my debit card number over the phone and gave me the local number to call if I needed to reach them. Last month, with the 1st snow fall, Andrew’s showed up, although later in the afternoon, and did exactly what was advertised, plus they shoveled my back deck, which they had not mentioned including in their service. They came back a week later and did the same. Then a week ago, it again snowed. Andrew’s did not come during the day, but very late at night, I awoke to a Ring doorbell notification. I saw a plow truck at the end of my driveway. When I awoke the next morning, it looked like a plow truck somewhat plowed my driveway, leaving a large patch of snow behind my daughter’s vehicle, and my doorstep was untouched. This past week, on December 2nd, we had a snowstorm. Andrew’s did not show up. I called the local number I was given and it went to voicemail. The voicemail stated that if it was a snowday, then the crews are most likely out clearing snow and please be patient. Give them 24 hours after the snow stops to clear the snow. I left a message to please call me. The next day, Andrew’s still had not shown up and I never received a call back. I called the main number and a very rude man asked me when the snow had stopped. I told him I wasn’t sure, I had been at work. He told me that he was sure they were on their way and hung up on me. On Thursday, December 4th, we had another snowstorm come through. Andrew’s did not come again. I called the main number and was hung up on. I called it several more times and it went to voicemail. I left a voicemail to please call me back. I did not receive a call back. I also called the local number I was given, several times, with no answer. I left a voicemail message to please call me back, and they did not. Later in the afternoon, one of my colleagues wanted to help me. She called the main number pretending to be a customer looking for service. She spoke with Paul. He gave her a price and the services they would provide. She asked what would happen if they didn’t show up and was told “that has never happened in the 18 years they have been in service”. She also asked where their local office was in Syracuse, NY. He told her 2 Plaza Drive Suite #134 East Syracuse, NY. This address was for a Staples in Auburn NY. She called the post office to see and they told her this address did not exist in East Syracuse, NY. After not hearing from Andrew’s all day and calling numerous times, I called the main number and told them I want to cancel my service and I would like to be reimbursed for my $3100, because they did not provide the services I was told they would perform. I also wrote them an email to the address listed on their website, stating the same. Someone from Andrews did show up, Friday afternoon around 3pm, after the driveway was shoveled, and we told them to leave and not come back. He told my husband that he was dispatched to come to our residence, because we had been missed. I am a registered nurse at a local hospital and need to be able to get to work, even when it snows. I cannot risk the chance of not being able to get out of my driveway and deal with the uncertainty of a plow company not showing up. I also have a disabled husband who has difficulty walking and uses a wheelchair. I can’t have him falling on snow and ice, and using a wheelchair over snow is very difficult. I ultimately decided to buy a $1500 snow blower and will have to take care of my driveway myself. I have including pictures from this past week of the snowfall we had, and the proof that the snow wasn’t removed. I also included a picture of the driveway, that my 72 year old parents helped me shovel. I hope that you are supporting me in recovering the money that I paid to this fraudulent company, as it was your business who recommended them to me. "

Our business is our livelihood but it is also so much more. Craig Kruszka Roofing was started to fill in a void in the current market and to make a business that the people of Hamburg and surrounding areas can place their trust in. Over the years we have never lost our commitment to our clients and that is what has allowed us to succeed in a very competitive industry. We stand committed to our purpose as we stand committed to the people of Hamburg and surrounding areas. Working on over 30 years of experience.

"Very professional. Came same day as reported. Very reasonable. Explained job and work completed like a pro. His estimate was several hundred less than others."

Since 1985, Frank's Basement Systems has served the Greater Buffalo, Rochester, and Western New York regions in basement waterproofing, crawl space encapsulation and repair, and residential and commercial foundation repair services. As a member of several nationally-recognized contractor networks, such as Basement Systems, Supportworks, and CleanSpace, Frank's Basement Systems has access to patented, award-winning products and comprehensive training.

"Due to a rapid thawing, our home's sump pump started to fail and couldn't pump water faster than it was coming in from the drain tile. I came home from work to find a huge puddle of water in the area where the pump was situated, about 1/2" deep. The pump itself was working, but barely. After spending an hour bucketing water out of the pump well, I gave Frank's Basement Systems a call at around 7:45pm. One of their guys, Shane, was at my house within 20 minutes. He did a perimeter check outside the house and confirmed water was being pumped out, but the flow was minimal. He disconnected the pump from the piping, pulled it out, and I got a view of how corroded the old pump was, and it was chock full of debris and rocks. He cleaned the rocks from the pump and reinstalled to see if that would help the situation - it didn't. By this point, I was fully prepared to invest in a new pump, and he kindly provided me with the inventory he had available. Upon deciding which pump to go with, he went to his truck, drew up the paperwork that I signed, and he was able to install the new pump within half an hour. In addition to the pump, he redid the piping exiting the house and added a quiet check valve. Finally, he provided me with an estimate for a backup pump, at my request. Besides the great and thorough work, Shane was friendly, kind and honest. He did his due diligence in first attempting to repair the old sump before advising installation of a new model. He wore plastic booties over his shoes, wore a face mask the entire time and maintained proper social distancing. I've worked with Frank's at my previous house and am glad to have worked with them on the sump for my current house. I hope I won't need any work in the near future, but if I do, I'll continue to go with Frank's."

We're a family-owned and operated business, and we treat our customers like family. My son is now paving the way for the second generation of ownership, so that means our company is solidly positioned to continue the tradition of excellence and serve you for many years to come. Let us show you how we make the difference with craftsmanship and outstanding customer service. From the first time we receive your phone call to ask about our services to the time we shake hands after a job well done - it's all part of the StockMohr way. Our motto is "StockMohr People make the Difference". You'll soon find that StockMohr employs a lot of old fashioned values - like standing by our workmanship, getting the job right the first time, and making customer satisfaction our number one priority. Values like that never go out of style!

"Stockmohr installed my roof 20 years ago using 30 year shingles. They warranted their work for only 5 years. Now the roof has sprung a leak down into the kitchen ceiling and Stockmohr refuses to fix it because their policy is to get payment by credit card and my policy is to make payment with a good check. Now they are accusing me of extortion. I would not hire them for anything!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

The process to winterize your landscaping depends on the plants you have, but generally speaking, you should rake your lawn to avoid leaves from smothering your grass and leading to mold and fungi growth, wrap young trees to protect from fluctuating temperatures, and fertilize your lawn to provide some nutrients for the grass through the colder temperatures. You can also consider marking off small trees and shrubs to avoid accidentally damaging them with snow removal tools.

Some commercial services use sand when clearing ice, but that’s to add instant traction, not to melt the ice. While you can scatter kitty litter, sand, or similar substances on steps, paths, or porches to improve safety during icy conditions, they won’t help melt hardened ice. Rely on salt or other de-icing methods to fully melt away stubborn ice.

You can use hot water to melt ice from your driveway, but there are some serious caveats. Very hot water can quickly melt ice and remove it, which is helpful if you’re very short on time and need a solution ASAP. However, it will only work across a small area, after which there’s a chance the water will freeze again. The sudden clash of temperatures is dangerous for fragile materials, notably windows and other glass, so you’ll want to keep the water away from your car.

If not removed, ice dams can damage your gutters, roof, and home’s interior. The weight of these heavy ice formations can break gutters and downspouts. Water intrusion can happen underneath ice dams when there’s no way for melting snow to drain off the roof, and roof sheathing, walls, ceilings, and attic spaces can suffer water damage.

Costs depend on property size, snowfall frequency, and additional services like de-icing or hauling snow offsite.
