"Amazing. They demoed old tile and replaced with luxury vinyl plank. I had two crews, one for first floor and one for 2nd floor. They were all great and extremely hardworking. My 2 nd floor team also re-tiled my fireplace. I used very large format tiles and layout was extremely important. They were careful and did a gorgeous job."

Small jobs welcome

"Very please with how everything came out, we wanted vinyl flooring in one room and ceramic tile in the other and the job was executed perfectly. Prior to beginning, on the second floor one room was completely unleveled with an huge hump. They addressed the issue, fixed it, and it was all done in a timely manner. Definitely would recommend these guys if you want the job done right!"

"Outstanding. Deven completed the job and it looks great. I wanted some upstairs tile cleaned that would have cost extra, but Deven said that I should have some other work done prior to his cleaning......offered to do it if I wanted, but suggested I wait even though it cost him the extra dollars. You do not find that everyday. Thanks!

"He arrived when promised, his employees were very polite and professional. The work was completed in a timely manner. The quality of the workmanship was remarkable. I found a minor problem, called Joe and he had it corrected at my convenience. I was so happy with his work ethic that I contracted him again to remodel my 2nd bathroom. My family and friends admired it so much that they want him to do their bathrooms too. If I remodel my kitchen I will call Joe @ Tile and Carpet Gallery without a doubt to do the counters and floors. I give them an A rating."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.

Tile removal costs about $2 to $7 per square foot unless you do it yourself. When you hire a pro, tile installation costs $5 to $45 per square foot. Costs vary widely, but they depend on the tile material (custom-made stone tiles cost significantly more than plain ceramic tile), location, and tile size.

Deciding between using a shower pan or tile will likely come down to the shower’s design. You can learn how to install a shower pan liner, but it has a standard look similar to most other showers, though there is some flexibility for material and color choices. Tile, on the other hand, can be customized and is set directly into the shower base. However, a shower tile floor is more difficult to install than a shower pan.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.
