"Bridges Construction did a wonderful job remodeling the master bathroom. Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable...they have obviously completed many remodels. They were professional, courteous, and paid attention to the small details. Communication throughout the job was good. I would definitely recommend them."

"Michael came out to review the project within a few hours of my being connected by telephone to him by "Home Advisor". He started on the job the next day. I appreciated the fact that Michael always picked up my call when I needed to ask a quick question (I was 700 miles away towards the end of the project) The sub flooring in a bathroom was replaced and new carpet and wood flooring installed throughout the house. It looks great. Last but not least- his bill was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend "Mr Honeydo""

"Overall, we are very pleased with Curtis Bros. The suppliers they recommended were a tremendous assist and invaluable in getting exactly what we wanted. Personnel arrived every day as scheduled and on time. Great care was taken to minimize dust, debris, and maintain non-construction areas. Personnel were friendly, courteous, and asked for our input whenever a question or concern arose. Finished product looks fantastic! Advice for folks looking to remodel: 1 - Price out materials ahead of time. 2 - Allow an appropriate amount of time to complete the job."

"Troy was on time to look at job. Spent time going over what he could do to help remodel a bathroom. He explained only the part of the job he could do and I would need to hire others to complete the total work being done such as a plumber and tile person. I was moving a shower, making it bigger, having it tiled and then a cabinet made for the old shower area. He had ideas about what to do and it made sense to us.
He was prompt and on time for meeting. He was a real nice guy and was coming from Carson to do the job in Reno.
Our main concern was that after this original visit, I got one call that he was busy and could not get the estimate done in a timely matter and that he would do it the following week.
I never got an estimate or even another phone call. It has been 3 months with no contact and I hired another person to do the job.
A phone call would have been better than nothing. By waiting for his call and no response to email it delayed my job by months.

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Whether it’s more affordable to gut a house than build a new one depends on the markets where you'd be buying and selling. However, it’s usually less expensive to renovate a home than to build new construction.

Most homeowners pay between $100,000 and $200,000 for demolition and remodeling costs, whereas the average cost to build a new home is between $139,000 and $531,300.

Although homeowners often use the terms basement remodeling and basement finishing interchangeably, they are quite different terms.

Finishing a basement is the process of taking a basement space that is not habitable and adding elements to make it usable. This includes adding plumbing, flooring, and insulation.

Remodeling a basement means taking an already existing finished basement and changing it, often by adding or removing walls, adding plumbing, or changing the existing flooring.

Yes, you can install a summer kitchen or kitchenette in your basement. They serve similar purposes as outdoor kitchens, keeping the main floor of the house cool and providing another space to cook and congregate. Basement kitchens are also a worthwhile alternative for homeowners without much space in the backyard. They come with a few logistical questions to sort out, though, like ventilation and waterproofing.

Yes, most general contractors require an initial down payment. A reasonable deposit is typically between 10% and 25% of the total project cost, although this can vary by project size and location. This upfront payment helps the contractor cover initial costs like materials, permits, licensing, and hiring subcontractors. The remaining balance is usually billed according to a schedule outlined in your contract, often tied to project milestones or completion dates. Be cautious of contractors who ask for a large deposit of 50% or more, as this could be a red flag for a scam.

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.
