"Like Greg G said in the comments, it feels like there is something strange going on with this company when it comes to billing and communication. My landlord booked a chimney cleaning. As the tenant, I was the person to open the door and let the people in. I confirmed with them that they had all of the billing information for the landlord, and they said they did. Over the next year I kept getting emails asking for me to pay the bill and I kept providing them the billing information for the landlord. They never responded, just ignored me and then threatened to send to collections. I had to call and email over twenty times to get this resolved, when this was their mistake in the first place. I would avoid this company, incredibly surprised to find all of my emails and calls ignored. I had to get a lawyer involved to finally put an end to this. You have been warned, do not use Tahoe Chimney & Fireplace as a renter, even if the landlord is paying, they will still try to bill you rather than the landlord who booked the service!"

Reno Heating & Air is a family owned and operated buisness, with over 70 years or experience. 10 employees, we do use subcontractors, Reno Heating is a mechanical contractor with a c21 license(56404). We charge an initial 75.00 dispatch which covers the first 15 minutes on the job and we charge in 1/4 hour increaments after that. Additional contacts: Katy Trevino, Kristi Nichols.

"These folks are fantastic! John Trevino and his assistant came over to look at our HVAC units and check what needed to be done per comments on our house inspection--we bought the 10 y/o old about 7 months ago. John determined that the two units needed a bit more work inside and outside than what the inspectors found, and said the humidifier would work well with our system. They gave us a fair price, based on the research I did. We also originally wanted a "mini split" unit in the office so we could heat/cool it separately from the rest of the area covered by the second HVAC unit. However, the price was somewhat more than we thought it would be and, after John understood our needs, he suggested just adding a zone to the unit--which was much less expensive and exactly what we needed. I was a little disappointed that it was not John who ultimately did the work, but his team was excellent. The job wound up taking an extra 10 hours or so than they thought it would, but they didn't charge a dime more than the estimate. They made sure everything worked correctly and cleaned up after themselves, and they explained all of the new equipment. I would recommend these folks any time and will be signing up for their annual maintenance plan."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

You may want to remove the gas line if it’s unsightly or if it’s causing a problem with future appliances. The downside is if you decide to go back to gas, you would need to run a new gas line to the area.  The average cost to run a new gas line is $550, but the installation can range anywhere from $120 to $1,350.

Almost all new buildings in California need an earthquake shut-off valve. The requirements for an earthquake gas shut-off valve (and who can install it) depend on where you live. For example, according to the Los Angeles Municipal Code, you’re required to hire a licensed contractor to install one whenever you build, sell, or renovate a home. Check with your local building department for your city’s laws on installing, permitting, and inspecting earthquake shut-off valves.

DIY installation is not recommended due to the complexities of gas line work and venting; professional installation ensures safety and compliance.

Installing a gas line is no simple task. From start to finish, you’re looking at anywhere from six to 12 weeks to acquire the correct permits, dig a trench, and connect your appliances. Naturally, the longer the gas line, the longer it will take to complete. If your plumber needs to hire additional contractors to dig trenches and navigate around or remove obstacles, this could put you at the longer end of the timeframe.

Once the land is prepped and licenses acquired, installing the actual line may only take a few days to a few weeks, weather permitting.

While some building codes allow galvanized pipe for natural gas, it shouldn’t be used for propane. Propane can cause the pipe to wear down, leading to dangerous leaks. Instead of galvanized piping for propane, you should consider coated copper, black iron, or corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST). For underground propane line installation, you can use polyethylene (PE).
