"Extremely professional. Very clean, drywall can be very messy, and they were careful to cleanup each day. Wonderful crew, no foul language and very polite. Work was topnotch. My house was in ruins from a flood, and they made it better than new!"

"I needed a drywall repair and a towel rack put up. Installing the towel rack was not part of his work, but he returned and installed it for me anyway. I'm very pleased with this company!"

"We called Walter at American Acoustics to take over a job from another drywall company that wasnâ t doing a very good job hanging the drywall. Walter organized a new hanging crew within days and within a week our house was textured and completed! What impressed me the most was Walterâ s extensive knowledge of the drywall process and drywall business which he openly shared. He has outstanding communication skills and communicated the plan every step along the way. I highly recommend you contact Walter at American Acoustics for your drywall project!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

According to the EPA, mold grows within 24 to 48 hours if left untreated after a water leak. So unless you notice the leak and stop it right away, you only have a day or so before mold is a real concern. If you don’t notice the leak, it can take about three weeks for the mold spores to become visible. That means you’ve likely had an active mold infection for a few weeks by the time you notice discoloration.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.
