"Garret and his crew do great work. Very courteous and conscientious. Garret is a "jack of all trades". He did drywall, drywall repair, baseboard, door trim, painting, vanity install to include marble countertop, hung the bathroom mirrors and other items. He finished work ahead of schedule and performed a lot of out of scope at a reasonable price. He has no problem working late if needed to get the job done. Keeps work area clean. Highly recommended."

"Jesus with SEG Drywall went above and beyond my expectations! They were one of three vendors who helped me get my home back after my contractor had accepted my deposit and all but ghosted me. I heard from him within minutes of submitting a request for a quote, and he was out the next day to assess the damage. I had a fair quote the following day that included (separately at my request) pricing for just the drywall and insulation, and a price that included painting. He helped me match the paint color in my rooms better than I could have done on my own, and made helpful suggestions that helped me in the improvement projects I’d chosen to take on myself. While I hope to never need SEG’s drywall services again, I will definitely be saving their number for future painting and to pass on to my friends. Thank you, Jesus, and the entire team at SEG Drywall for your kindness, respect, and follow through. I’m not sure I would have made it back home this year if I hadn’t reached out to you!"

"They did a great job but more than that. Billy was quick to respond, stayed with communication, arrived on time, listened, suggested, and got the job done at a reasonable price. I plan to use them for other projects."

"Walter installed stamped, metal panels on my kitchen ceiling. The installation method stated by the manufacturer (by nailing) proved not to be practical, so Walter found painted screws that matched the panel color for the install. Panel lines are not perfect, but overall I am pleased with the work that he did considering that this was his first time installing these metal panels. I would hire him again for any drywall work that I may have in the future."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Yes, you can hammer a nail into a wall stud. But before you do, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually nailing into a stud—and not wiring, pipes, or ductwork. To check, find a few more studs in the wall, then measure to make sure they’re either 16 or 24 inches apart.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

On average, drywall installation costs around $2,000, with a typical range of $400 to $6,000, including materials and labor. The final price depends on several factors. The most significant is the size of the area, as many contractors charge per square foot. Other cost factors include the complexity of the job (e.g., cutting around multiple windows and doors, corners, or curved walls), accessibility, location, the thickness of the drywall, the height of the room, and the desired level of finish. The level of finish can range from simply hanging the drywall to taping and mudding the seams and painting the walls.
