"I am always extremely skeptical of solar companies. I met with multiple companies and Hedgehog is the only one that checked all of my boxes. I’ve heard multiple horror stories about solar, and I wanted a company that (a) was truly local & established (b) offered premium equipment from reputable manufacturers (c) offered me multiple options and (d) pays their sales people hourly instead of by commission. The sales rep I met with offered me multiple options with top tier equipment. They weren’t the cheapest, but anybody that has dealt with contractors knows that home improvement projects are always “you get what you pay for”."

"On Tues I had an exterior ‘Ring’ camera installed. The technician flipped several breakers trying to find the one that would turn off the power to the exterior light(lamp) the Ring camera was going to replace. With all breakers back on, we had no power in the living room or master bedroom. The tech & my husband spent an hour trying to figure it out to no avail. That’s when I decided we needed an electrician out here. I called Fowler electric, explained my situation, the office gal was quite knowledgeable, she quoted me $127.50 for the first 1.5hours of work and $85 every hour thereafter which they pro-rate to the nearest 30 mins. Set up an appointment for the next day, 1:30pm to 3pm. Chris called letting me know his ETA and arrived within that timeframe. Within a few mins he had the initial issue resolved and we had power back on in the living room and master bedroom. I had additional electrical work that needed to be done; remove a non-working light above the kitchen sink and install a new one. Come to find out the dimmer switch no longer worked. Chris didn’t have a dimmer switch on him, but I was ok with just regular rocker switch being installed. He checked a back patio light that doesn’t always come on and so far so good. Top screw on bathroom outlet was stripped, wouldn’t stay in. Chris took it apart, put something behind it and got the plate back on, nice & tight. He also removed an old non-working light ballistic in the garage, installed a new one I had bought to replace it and that required cutting a hole in the ceiling for a junction box/outlet since the new light had a plug -vs- hardwire. Then he replaced a couple broken brackets that were holding up an electrical conduit pipe on the side of the house under the eaves. The pipe was sagging severely and I have been wanting it fixed for a couple years now. The entire time, I was at Chris’s side, we chatted, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Total cost? $160!! I will DEFINITELY use Fowler Electric for future electrical needs. A++++"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

If your project is complex, it may make sense to hire an architect to draw plans. An architect might also be a good person to hire if you want to ensure your plans adhere to building codes and regulations.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to help optimize and maximize space, functionality, and usage. It is recommended to confirm the availability of this service with your specific installer or contractor.

Yes, integrating sustainable practices and energy efficiency into plans is common.

There are several different steps in the pole barn building process. First, you’ll need construction plans, which you’ll use to obtain permits. Then, you can clear the land so it’s suitable for building and installing the foundation. Your contractor will frame the barn using large poles, then rough in the plumbing and electricity (if your barn has those elements) before finishing the interior, adding siding, and installing the roof.

After that, they’ll finish up the electrical work and plumbing and add your windows and doors. You may have a few other finishing jobs to do like painting or waterproofing.

Stone, marble, and brick are common building materials of Neoclassical architecture, though you will also find wood flooring and a range of natural stone tiles. Since several home styles fall under Neoclassical architects' umbrella, a range of building materials—including traditional wood framing—will make an appearance.
