"Andrew Brown from Alarm Protection Group facilitated the installation of our home security system. He was a very helpful and informative, and was not pushy, as with other ADT sales reps. He followed up with us after the system was installed to see if we had any questions or concerns re the system. I highly recommend Andrew to anyone who is interested in a home security system."

"My wife and I recently purchased an Older Home in the Nob Hill Region of Albuquerque. The house had previously been hardwired and serviced by a larger national security company. Given prior negative experiences at other properties with these larger companies and binding contracts, etc., I wanted to go with a local business for my security needs. I can verify without any reservation that I couldnâ t be happier with the service I received from Brandon and his crew at SW security. Give them a call, I know you will be too. I originally found SW security on Angi, And then looked into the BBB To verify the quality of their work. I was very pleased to see that they have an A+ rating which they are very deserving of. After meeting with several contractors from different companies, it was pretty clear from the beginning that Brandon, the owner at SW security stands out from the rest. He was personable, engaging, took time to answer all of my questions and was very knowledgeable in regards to what I would need to best secure my house. I canâ t make that same statement about the other local businesses I met with. At no time did I feel like I was being sold a â one size fits all systemâ or pressured into anything I didn't want. I will note that I was not interested in getting the cheapest or â best dealâ on my system. I don't believe that cutting corners is something to do with your personal security. My wife and I had fumbled through several DIY security systems currently available and after much disappointment, wanted something much more robust. I can say that with the installation now done for the better part of a month, we have achieved that standard and much more. I can now monitor my security system remotely while at work, and arm or disarm the system from my smartphone. This may seem like a small detail, but the piece of mind, knowing I can be gone for 8-12 hours while my family and possessions are protected is worth its weight in gold. His installation team, consisting of technologists Austin and Seth, was not only efficient and effective, but also highly professional. They took care to place alarms and sensors in discreet locations where they would not only be effective, but also aesthetically pleasing. The two of them were very polite and took all of my placement concerns into consideration. The team needed to come back on a separate day to complete the job since I wanted my wood doors drilled for more discreet appearing sensors. They were more than accommodating in this regard and worked around my schedule to come by and finish the job. They set up temporary sensors on my doors for a day or two to make sure that the house was secured until they could completely finish the job. Afterwards, they used a shop vac and cleaning up wood shavings to give a very nice clean work space. Overall, you should do yourself a favor and Call SW security for a consultation on your security needs. I couldnâ t be happier that I did. I can sleep at night knowing my house and family is safe from intruders. I will certainly be using the companyâ s service for years to come,"

"The employees who came to our house presented themselves in a professional manner. We had a bit of problem setting up the camera view on computers outside the home (i.e., through the website), but we figured it out and are very satisfied with our security camera system."

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

Each has its use, depending on the scenario. Security doors are primarily intended to keep people out of the home, while storm doors are used to protect the home from extreme weather. Both tend to be made from heavy-duty metal and may include glass panels to allow light to enter the home. Storm doors can feature mesh screens, just like screen doors, to allow for increased ventilation and to keep out pests. Security doors rarely, if ever, have mesh screens.

To prevent false alarms, motion detectors need proper placement and settings. Start by installing them away from pets and windows where outside movement could set them off. Adjust the sensitivity settings to reduce the likelihood of it detecting minor motions. Consider using dual-tech sensors, for example passive infrared (PIR) and microwave technology, to improve accuracy and reduce false alarms. And don’t forget regular maintenance—cleaning the sensor and checking for any obstructions can go a long way in making sure your detectors run smoothly.

Professionals optimize camera placement, integrate recording systems, and ensure tamper-proof security.

Window security film won’t prevent break-ins or stop your window from shattering from impact during extreme weather like hurricanes or tornadoes. However, applying security film is relatively inexpensive, and it can make breaking into your home significantly harder—often hard enough to deter burglars entirely—and keep your window from shattering on your floor after impact. For these reasons, window security film is often a worthwhile investment that helps protect your property.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.
