"Mr. Wilson arrived right on time and got to work right away. I already knew the wax ring needed to be replaced. Mr. Wilson promptly diagnosed a leak in the toilet tank water supply line and replaced the line. Everything is in perfect working order now. Better than new. I will definitely use Wilson Waterworks again for any future plumbing work.

"Young man named Mike came out and installed a faucet for my elderly grandmother. He was kind, helpful, and very respectful of my grandmothers home. I have, and would again, recommended Bowers Mechanical to friends looking for excellent customer service and professional plumbing needs??"

"This is a service that no one wants to need, but when you hear water running inside your walls this is the company that  can find the leak accurately. Steve and his partner came out and, using sensitive sound equipment and a special blend of tracer gases injected into the plumbing  system, located the leak under our slab rather than in the wall where we heard it. Steve was able to locate the leak within a foot of where it actually was, and we subsequently had the foundation jackhammered, a hole dug several feet under our foundation, and the leak repaired by a plumber. His system is highly accurate  and we recommend him highly.

"Here is the rest of the story - last April I had a bathroom remodeled.  It included removing the horrid old tub/surround and replacing it with a custom tiled walk-in shower.  The shower pan was that smooth river rock.  From the get go, the shower pan was never right. First, the grout was so much it practically covered all the river rock; second, the drain was never flush with the floor and water never drained well because the rock was built up around the drain; and 3rd (and worst) water started pooling at the back of the shower.  I guess puddles is a better way to describe it.  In July the problem of the pooling water was worse - if you took a shower at night, the water would still be there in the morning.  I called the company who did the work and they came out to look and I was told, "concrete takes 90 days to cure" and it's settling and that's why the pooling.  The guy came back to "fix" the pooling and removed a couple of pieces of rock and re-tiled and grouted but the problem remained.  At the same time I had asked that the curb (the step over part) be raised a couple of inches, which he did.  Fast forward to September. 2013.  The pooling water was still there - the shower floor was still wet 12 hours after the shower and the grout was discoloring reddish.  I was tired of having an ugly "new " shower so I went on Angie's List and found Jonas Jensen.  I wanted the shower pan re-done (and this time no river rock, just 2x2 tiles).  Jonas came out exactly when he said he would, gave me an estimate, I was impressed with his knowledge (and he was very polite as he looked at the shower pan, but I'm sure all the time he was thinking that it was not a very good job), and he started the demo on Monday Sept. 9 at 8:30am.  At 11am he called me at work to say there was a problem.  As he was demo-ing the shower pan, tiles were too easily breaking and coming off the walls and the curb. He found a bare 2x4 piece of wood where the curb had been made taller. There was little mortar under the tiles, and waterproofing was not done correctly. Jonas said that in all good faith he could not continue because he thought whoever did the original job did not do it right and that I should call them.  After over a year of living with it  (and remembering all the construction, dust, disruption, and coming back a second time, etc.) I really did not feel like dealing with them again. But Jonas persisted (and he said that I should not have to pay for someone else to fix a job that was not done right the first (or second) time.  So I reluctantly called and the next day a guy from the original company came out and said I had a "two year extended warranty" and that while they do not give money back they would fix the problem for free.  He did not admit that the guy who did the original job messed up (twice) but could see for himself the bare 2x4 on the curb and noted there was not a lot of mortar on the tiles. I agreed to allow them to re-do the shower pan even though I was ready to wash my hands of them and go with Jonas, someone I knew would do a great job - correctly - the first time.  What I did not expect was  that Jonas would insist that I go back to the original company and tell them to "make it right."  AND I CERTAINLY DID NOT EXPECT THAT JONAS WOULD NOT CHARGE ME FOR THE WORK HE ALREADY STARTED.  To find someone that forthright and honest and professional needs to be recognized - and recommended.  (Of course this review is being written before the shower pan is done - for the third time - so I will reserve judgment on that - and plan to update my review from last year on that company). I will definitely use Jonas for any future tiling work although hopefully it won't be for tiling a shower pan for the 4th time... If you look on his website you can see the pictures of his beautiful work. CALL JONAS JENSEN!

"Alvin was careful to explain prior to starting work that if he required extra supplies, etc it would be on top of the Angie's price. Also, that there was the possibility that it would not be a simple replacement. I expected that. The replacement turned out to be more complicated than I'd anticipated.
The plumbing pipes for hose bibbs are installed between the vertical studs. There is supposed to be a horizontal cross brace that secures the "inside" part of the bibb  with 2 screws into the wood. Turns out, when the house was built in 1997, no cross bracing was added inside the wall, so the unsupported pipe had been shifting each time we turned the faucet on or off for the past 17 years. So, when he went to remove the outside portion, instead of "unthreading" as it should have,  the copper pipe broke off at the joint inside the wall. In order to complete the repair, Alvin needed to make an access port on the interior wall. He very carefully sawed an 8x8" piece out of the drywall, added a wood cross brace to the existing framing, secured the plumbing pipe to it, then attached the new hose bibb on the outside. After completing the repair, he carefully re-fitted the piece to the wall and used some caulk I had to cover the seam.
We were charged only for the difference in supplies, not for the additional time involved, which I was grateful for. I was also relieved that we had decided to have this done. I hate to think about some day going out to turn the hose on or off and have a fountain inside the wall.
I felt he handled the situation very well, explaining to me along the way what the problem was and how he would fix it.

"When a leak developed on my old water heater,  I had many decisions to make, including whether to try to repair the leak, and if not, what kind of water heater to get to replace my old one, where to install the new heater, and what other plumbing upgrades to do at the same time. (The old heater had been installed in a steel enclosure outdoors, so installing a new heater in the same location was not an option, since the new installation would need to be inspected and the old enclosure would not pass the city's inspection.) I needed to explore my options, understand the pros and cons of each option, and understand how much each option would cost.
I first called a larger, highly-rated plumbing company I had worked with in the past (not KSM). They sent out a plumber who I had not met before, who seemed to quickly become frustrated with my decision-making process. I got the sense that this plumber did not have enough experience to be able to efficiently make recommendations and answer my questions. He asked me to "just decide what you want, then let me know." I decided I wanted a different plumber - someone who can not only do the plumbing work, but also help me decide what plumbing work to do!
Looking through Angie's List for a highly-rated company with experience installing tankless heaters, I found KSM. Kevin (the owner of KSM) answered my call at 7:30am, came out to speak with me that same morning, patiently answered all my questions, and helped me explore all my options. His team inspected all the plumbing in my crawl space and gave me recommendations on future upgrades to consider. KSM's bid on installing a new Navien NPE-240A tankless heater came in lower than the other company's bid; I decided to go with KSM.
Two days later, Kevin's team arrived in the morning to install the new heater. They worked late into the evening to install a gas line and get the new heater up and running; I had hot water again that same evening. They came back on the next business day to tidy up the wall behind the new heater. They also fixed a couple other minor (unrelated) plumbing issues in my house, free of charge. The installation passed the city's inspection on the first try, and our new water heater has been working great for us.
I was very impressed with Kevin's knowledge and experience, and his willingness to patiently give me all the information I needed without giving me a "hard sell". His team was courteous and considerate. They were able to finish the job quickly, they followed through on exactly what they said they would do, and they attended to all my questions and concerns. I will definitely be calling KSM for my future plumbing needs!

"When we set out to install a completely different heating and cooling system in our home, we wanted to feel comfortable that the investment we were making was a good one. So we investigated mini-split heat pump technology. Mitsubishi and Fujitsu seem to be the leading producers of these energy-efficient systems. We asked for competitive bids from two sources and awarded the work to Williams Mechanical, LLC of Albuquerque, a family-owned heating, cooling and plumbing business. We're glad we did. From our initial meeting with owner Annette Meier and Comfort Consultant & Install Manager Mike Mollica until our project was completed, we were delighted with the friendly and professional bearing of everyone who worked on the installation. At the same time, we also elected to replace our elderly 50-gallon water heater. It was installed in a single day. As part of the changeover to the mini-split system. Williams removed our two evaporative coolers (which they donate to the needy) and sealed the roof openings. Because our Pueblo style home features several different roof levels, it presented unique challenges for the Williams installers. They dealt with them carefully and professionally. Throughout the process, our questions were answered courteously and patiently, noise and disruption were minimized, and cleanup was done daily. Brett, Alex, Anthony, others — all were great to work with. In short, Williams Mechanical met or exceeded all our expectations. We recommend them highly. David & Beth Wiley"

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

There are few things more annoying than trying to fall asleep only to be woken up by the sound of a dripping faucet. If the faucet drips when the water is off, it probably has a loose or damaged seat washer. The screw gets loose from repeated use, making the faucet drip. With outdoor faucets, this is more common in the summer when people are using it more often to water the garden or cool off. Disassembling the faucet and tightening or replacing the seat washer and screw can get the dripping to stop.

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

No, all faucets are not compatible with all sinks. Because your countertops and your sink likely have a set number of holes already built in, you’ll need to find a faucet with the same amount of holes to work with your existing sink.

Yes, you can replace just the top of a bathroom vanity, which you may choose to do if you love the look of your vintage bathroom cabinets, but the countertops are not your style. Fortunately, it is pretty simple to detach a vanity top from a base for replacement, but you should still shut off the water to avoid a leak. Replacing only the vanity top costs around $400 to $4,300.

Some of the most common plumbing repairs are certainly no small issues. The good news is that plumbers typically deal with these problems frequently and have the parts and tools ready to take care of them quickly and efficiently. These common problems include:

  • Clogged drains: $75–$250

  • Clogged toilet: $125–$300

  • Bathtub and shower: $100–$600

  • Faucet or showerhead: $200–$350

  • Sink pipe: $200–$500

  • Toilet repair: $150–$400
