"Thomas came, found the incoming water line leak, got the Bobcat excavator and dug down to expose the water pipe. A pipe joint had not been glued when the house was built 41 years ago and it took that long for the tiny leak to come to the surface. Thomas worked his butt off, climbing in the 5 foot deep hole in the mud to remove the old PVC pipe and install new pipe into a better configuration. It was Friday before Memorial Day weekend and Thomas worked till around 6pm to get the hole covered up and area cleaned up. He also had 2 more jobs to complete that day after leaving my job. Look no further, Signature is the place to go for fixing your plumbing issues. They came when scheduled and even though the project was SIGNIFICANTLY more work than initially envisioned, it was worked on until completion. Excellence is all I can say!!"

"The crew did the job, digging up and replacing 40 ft of main water line from the city line to the house, including installation of a pressure reducing valve. Overall COST was pretty expensive for labor considering the PEX tubing for the water line was the pretty much the only parts needed minus the pressure valve. I realize they go by a book that determines cost before work is actually done, though and I agreed to it. Kinda hard to get other estimates when you are in a pickle and need water in your home going asap during the holidays. Job got done and the 2 workers were nice guys. One complaint is I asked if there was a Veteran's Discount and they did include it but it was LESS THAN a 3% discount off the subtotal. Taking a star off for this and another for high labor cost."

"We highly recommend Max Zamora and his ForeGen plumbing crew. They gave us a good estimate and immediately went to work hooking up a water line to our refrigerator. They completed the job quickly and stand by their work. Will hire them again."

"John was quick to respond to my request and was actually available to install the new water heater the same day, however that did not work for my schedule. We made an appointment for the next morning (a Saturday). 4 hours after John showed up I had my new water heater installed and working. He even hauled off my old water heater."

"On September 12, 2020, I discovered water all over the floor of my garage from the water softener. I called Wagner and within two hours, the technician was at my house. Steven Jaramillo, installed new bypass valves for the water softener. This procedure isolated the water lines from the water softener. He also did some additional work on the water lines. Steven is a professional experienced technician. I especially appreciated Wagner's ability to provide this type of service on such short notice."

"They replaced my water heater and did an amazing job. Wonderful customer service and a good price on the work. I hired them on Friday and they were able to come on Saturday and replace the water heater. I am very happy with the work that was done and will hire them again in the future for other projects that need to be completed."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.

Whether you need a license or permit for water softener installation depends on your location. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, while others may only require a permit and an inspection. In some cases, both a permit and a licensed installer are necessary, and some areas have no requirements at all. Often, only certified plumbers and electricians are allowed to pull the necessary permits. To find out the specific regulations in your area, you can contact your local building department. Alternatively, a local water softener installer or plumber will be familiar with the requirements and can typically pull the permits for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use tools like Angi’s state licensing tool to verify an installer's license status.

Because it’s been through the water cycle, evaporating and becoming slightly acidic thanks to dissolved carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, rainwater tends to be naturally soft compared to groundwater, which has just been in contact with limestone. However, the natural hardness level of water always depends on where you are and other factors.

Choosing involves understanding water hardness levels, household size, desired features, and consulting professionals experienced in suitable system types.

The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.
