"We had an issue with our AC unit where the power would kick on, and the air was blowing, but it was not cold. The business owner (Gilbert Overa) came out to inspect our HVAC unit himself. He confirmed that the issue was an ac coil leak and that we would need to replace that part of our HVAC system. He gave me a quote on the parts and labor that was about 75% of what another company wanted. He walked me through the issue, showed me where the leak was happening, walked me through why it couldn't just be repaired, where/when he was going to be able to find the replacement for my discontinued 11-year-old 4-ton Rheem HVAC unit, and how much replacing the coil assembly was going to cost me. Very reasonable pricing, very professional, his team came and fixed everything within 48 hours. AMAZING! Airmax is now officially my furnace, heating, cooling, air conditioning company. Thank you, Gilbert."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If left untreated, a frozen AC unit can lead to costly damage, especially to the compressor and evaporator coils. When ice forms on the evaporator coils, they become brittle and more susceptible to breaking. Plus, a freeze makes your AC system much less efficient, which means it's wasting energy and costing you more in your monthly energy bills.

Some of the signs of HVAC issues include rising energy bills, rooms not cooling or heating properly, loud noises when in operation, and signs of condensation. To illustrate, if you’re wondering how to stop condensation on air vents, you’ll need to have your HVAC inspected.

Yes, a dehumidifier and air conditioner can be used simultaneously in a home. A dehumidifier can bolster an air conditioner’s efficiency. Typically, a dehumidifier is used when the air conditioner alone cannot keep a home’s humidity levels at a comfortable indoor humidity level, which should, ideally, be between 30% and 50%.

Yes. Getting a whole-house dehumidifier can help you save money on energy bills. How? Your home automatically feels cooler when there’s less humidity in the air (“It’s the humidity that gets ya!” is such a true statement). This means that you won’t need to run your AC as much as you would if you had all that extra humidity in your home.

Both evaporator coils and condenser coils are recyclable and contain valuable, sellable metals such as copper and aluminum. Not only is it more earth-friendly to take them to a local metal recycling facility, but you can also trade them in for cash. Also, once the coils are removed from the system, they won’t have any traces of refrigerant, so you won’t have to arrange for recycling Freon or R-410A unless you’re disposing of the entire AC system.
