"They stopped by to pump my septic, but then found that my driveway was too muddy from all the rain/snow. After that, they helped to keep an eye on the weather for a dry spell. They were then able to come and pump the septic. They were very accommodating. Thank you."

"Wow! What a great company! From quoting to service delivery this was an exceptional experience. Quoting through messages (my preference), great response time and very clear pricing. They showed up same day, including Maurice, worked through everything I asked for, gave advice, excellent service and offered to setup return visits to keep everything running smooth. The team was very considerate of my home, wore protective shoe covers and cleaned up after themselves. Very impressed and will happily recommend them to anyone who needs some HVAC or plumbing service. They are truly Pros!"

"Whitehorse was great to work with! My tankless water heater died while I was trying to sell my house from out of state. Whitehorse was far less expensive than the other estimates I received, and Shaquille did a great job and installed a very high quality tankless heater. The first plumber I talked with warned me that others with lower bids likely would not get a permit or do everything necessary to get the new unit up to code (things like adding an expansion tank and updating the condensate drain lines), but Shaquille did all of it and the new unit passed inspection without any issues. I would highly recommend Whitehorse Plumbing!"

"Yes. Excellent work ethic and courtesy. Very knowledgeable and positive. My main service line developed a serious leak outside 3 ft deep. Had to replace about 45 feet of pipe. It was rusted out."

Small jobs welcome

"We chose D-Moore Home Improvements to install the bamboo flooring we had purchased awhile ago but never got around to doing it ourselves. Kramer was very up front with his cost and how long it would take. He kept true to his time frame, especially since it was only him doing the work (except on the last day, when his lovely wife came along to help). Kramer is very skilled, intelligent, hard working and honest. We love the end result with our flooring and will definitely be using him for other future projects. 10/10 Highly Recommended!!"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

The cost to repair a sump pump ranges from $400 to $550, depending on the extent of the repair and your location. Minor repairs, like fixing a switch or replacing a float, can cost just a few hundred dollars. However, more significant issues, such as motor replacement or addressing electrical problems, may cost closer to $550. Keep in mind that regular maintenance can help prevent costly repairs, and if a sump pump is beyond repair, a full system replacement ranges between $650 and $1,400.

First, you can try unplugging the two sump pump cords, one for the motor and one for the float switch, then plugging them back in to reset the sump pump. You can also reset the sump pump by turning it off and back on at the breaker. Many sump pumps have a reset button, which you can press and hold for a few seconds to reset the device.

A water pressure booster doesn't require special maintenance. Like any house system, inspections should be a regular part of your annual schedule. Check for leaks, faulty valves, pressure loss, and mineral build-up. Pressure loss could be a result of mineral build-up, and you can descale the system with a vinegar and water solution.

Yes, you can add a battery to your existing sump pump. There are batteries available that can be plugged into your existing system; however, most battery backups come as a complete system and act as a replacement for your existing sump pump.
